1. The Australian Aviation Museum
When: Wednesdays & Saturdays: 10am- 4pm
Where: Bankstown Airport, Starkie Drive, Panania
Cost: Adults: $10.00, Children (15yrs & under): $5.00 & Family (2 adults 2 children): $25.00
Opened by the then-Prime Minister Hon. Paul Keating in 1994, the museum has a wide range of aircraft and aviation artefacts on display, including ranges from WWII, Tiger Moths, Mosquito Bombers, rare aircrafts, and more. New displays are constantly being added to the collection.

2. The Bulli Black Diamond Museum Heritage Centre
When: Sundays: 1pm-4pm
Where: Railway Station, East Franklin Ave, Bulli
Cost: Free
This museum was opened in 1989 and houses a collection of railway and local coal mining artefacts, as well as physical and photographic exhibitions of local interest.

3. Fighter World
When: Monday- Sunday: 10am- 4pm - Closed Christmas Day
Where: 49 Medowie Rd, Williamtown
Cost: Adults: $15.00, Children: $10.00 & Family: $40.00
This museum is dedicated to preserving the history of fighter aircrafts. Exhibited in two hangars, you can walk, touch and look into cockpits of famous aircrafts.

4. Fleet Air Arm Museum
When: All year round: 10am-4pm – Closed Public Holidays
Where: 189A Albatross Rd, Nowra
Cost: Adults: $10.00, Children (under 16yrs): Free
It was developed in 1974, from a small collection of naval aviation relics and five obsolete RAN aircraft, and today it is home to over 25 aircrafts and numerous artefacts.

5. Goulburn Historic Waterworks
When: Sundays: 10am-4pm , Mondays & Tuesdays: 10am-2pm
Where: Marsden Weir, off Fitzroy St, Goulburn
Cost: Entrance is by donation.
Located on the picturesque banks of Wollondilly River, this rare museum is the only complete, operational, steam-powered municipal water supply that is left in the original location. You can tour the Pumphouse, enjoy a bite to eat at the Pumphouse Cafe, or have a picnic in the park as the kids run around the playground.
6. The Illawarra Light Railway Museum

Where: 48a Tongarra Rd, Albion Park Rail
Cost: Check website for all ticket pricing including train rides.
This museum exhibits light railway locomotives and rolling stock, along with other related items of historical interest. There are miniature train rides as well.

7. The Jervis Bay Maritime Museum
When: All year round: 10am-4pm – Closed Christmas Day
Where: Woollamia Rd & Dent St, Huskisson
Cost: Adults: $10.00, Children under 16yrs: Free
This museum features a world renowned collection of maritime artefacts and navigational, surveying instruments. It exhibits a range of nautical equipment, models, photographs, paintings, drawings and objects related to the history and heritage of the Jervis Bay area.
8. NSW Toy & Railway Museum
When: All year round: 10am- 5pm
Where: 36 Olympian Parade, Leura

Set on 5 hectares of historic gardens overlooking the picturesque Jamison Valley, this museum is a must see! There is a remarkable collection of models from the 20th century, including rare tin-plate trains, aeroplanes, zeppelins, ships, automobiles, working model train layouts, complete with train station and more.

9. The Museum of Fire
When: Mondays- Sundays: 9:30am-4:30pm – Closed Public Holidays
Where: 1 Museum Drive, Penrith
Cost: Adults: $10.00, Children (2yrs-13yrs): $6.00 & Family (2 adults & 2 children): $ 25.00
The Museum of Fire aims to be the foremost Australian museum on the understanding of the experience of fire. The museum houses collections ranging from over 80 large moveable objects dating back from the early 1800's through to modern times, vehicles that are heritage listed, and more.

10. The National Motor Racing Museum
When: Mondays- Sundays: 9:30am-4:30pm- Closed Public Holidays
Where: 400 Panorama Ave, (Murray's Corner) Mount Panorama, Bathurst
Cost: Adults: $15.00, Children: $7.00 & Family (2 adults 2 children): $37.00
Located alongside the world famous racing circuit, Mount Panorama. The museum exhibits displays of speedway, solar, drag racing, rally cars, open wheelers, sports cars and touring cars, motorbike racing, and more.

11. National Transport Museum

Where: 69 Rifle Range Rd, Inverell

Take in over 100 years of transport in Australia with this museum. Exhibits include icons such as the 1906 Dayton (believed to be the only one left in the world), and over 120 vehicles on displays ranging from vintage, veteran and classic cars, as well as motorcycles.

13. Trainworks

This is Australia's largest collection of rolling stock, state-of-the-art facilities, including interactive activities for children, enormous outdoor play and picnic area, heritage train rides every Sunday, and an on-site cafe. There is something for the whole family at this transport museum!

14. The Yass Railway Museum
When: Sundays & Public Holidays: 10am-4pm –Except for Christmas & Boxing Days
Where: Comur St, Yass
Cost: Adults: $3.00, Children under 12yrs: $2.00, Family (2 adults 3 children): $8.00
This museum exhibits a host of railway memorabilia that are all housed in the original station building, which was erected in 1891. You will find Australia's shortest platform, including static displays of original period steam engines, carriages, and goods vans.
