Deck the halls with reams of paper – it's Christmas this month and there is no getting away from it. Love it or hate it, Christmas will take over most of December, although I have managed to find a few non-Christmas things to do this month.

Why is it a secret? Because if you kids find out about all the things on this list: they will beg you to do everything on it.

The Big Osborne Park Show
Last year the Osborne Park Show celebrated its 100th anniversary, and this year will be just a big as ever. Over two fun nights for the whole family, the Osborne Park Show is like a mini Royal Show with everything from rides and show bags to animal and produce displays. There will be fireworks displays at 9pm on both nights and heaps of entertainers, food, displays and demos.

When: Friday 4th (from 6pm) and Saturday 5th December (from 10am)
Where: Robinson Reserve, Tuart Hill
Cost: $12 adults, $6 kids (5-16 years)
Click for more info.

It's the Pageant!
The RAC/Channel Seven Christmas Pageant is a staple of the Perth Christmas calendar and a popular event for families. With a starting time of 7.30pm , the hour long parade has a route from St Georges Terrace from Mill Street to Victoria Ave. Wear comfy shoes and be prepared to wear kids on your shoulders as the night progresses. They are after all, the ultimate accessory.

When: Saturday 5th December 7.30pm (entertainment pre-show from 6.15pm)
Where: Perth CBD
Cost: Free
Click for more info.

Free Bunnings Family Fun Night
Grab the family and head along to Bunnings Homebase for a fun and festive celebration of Christmas. As usual, this fabulous is totally free and there will be activities galore from craft, DIY, a treasure hunt, a visit from Santa, zorb balls and more. This year's feast will be a Christmas roast.

When: Wednesday 9th December, 2013, 6-8pm
Where: Bunnings Homebase Subiaco
Cost: Free
Click for more info.

The Perth Festival of Christmas
Perth City's festival of Christmas runs across November and December and has a number of fun kid-friendly events that are free. It's bigger than the Big Guy's beard but a fabulous way to enjoy festivities well before the day itself. Events include the pageant, turning on the lights, a Children's Festival and the Northbridge Piazzarama. Read more here.

When: across December
Where: Northbridge Piazza and Forest Place
Cost: Free
Click for more info.

Market Madness
It wouldn't be December without a whole host of Christmas markets in the lead up to the big day. If you love shopping for Christmas presents, want the kids to enjoy some free entertainment or you just want to soak up the festive atmosphere, then click here for a list of some of the biggest and best Christmas markets across Perth this month.

Come to the Carols
It wouldn't be Christmas if you didn't sing some traditional (and cheesy) Christmas Carols. Kids love going to Carols, and not just because it usually means a late night! Here is the fabulous and enormous list from BuggyBuddys of some of the Carol events here in Perth.

Most events are free, though some have fund-raising components. You will be sure to find something near to you, and many have fireworks as well.

When: throughout December

See the (Christmas) Light
Some people love 'em, some think they're over the top but kids are all agreed that spotting a house decked out in flashing Christmas lights is almost as good as checking out what's under the tree on Christmas morning. There are hundreds of houses and sometimes entire streets across Perth who get into the spirit and decorate their houses to within an inch of their lives.

Plan your light-spotting route well ahead of time, get the kids in their PJs, whack on a Christmas CD and bundle everyone into the car. Here are some sites that list Christmas displays in Perth:

If you're not averse to a small road trip – Mandurah Cruises offer twice daily Christmas Light cruises around the canals in Mandurah, with some of the most spectacular displays in the state, but hurry as they book fast.

Lake Monger Celebrations
At the family friendly time of 4-8pm, the Christmas at Lake Monger Festival is early enough to get the kids to bed at a reasonable time, and late enough so that it actually gets dark to enjoy the lights (besides, no school tomorrow). There will be market stalls, food stalls, live music and plenty of the kids favourites (face painting, rides and free activities). Bring a picnic and blanket and watch the Christmas lights being turned on.

When: Thursday 17th December, 4-8pm
Where: Lake Monger Reserve, Wembley
Cost: Free
Click for more info.

Happy New Year
Christmas is over, the tree is away and everyone is making resolutions. It's New Year's Eve! Some like to celebrate on Eastern Standard Time and have your kisses at 9pm and then go to bed, others like to kick on a bit later at the Happy Zoo Year concert at Perth Zoo. This concert always sells out so get your tickets now ($47/$26). This year's special guests include illusionists all the way from Vegas, Polynesia dancers and the Explosive Dance Company.

When: Thursday 31st December
Click for more info.

That concludes the last Secret List of 2015. I hope you have enjoyed reading them as much as I have enjoyed writing them. I hope you all have a safe and happy Christmas and I will see you in the New Year with a big list of things to do with your kids during the summer school holidays.
