Williamstown is an inner-city suburb with great restaurants and bars, historic buildings, a pretty beach, and a trendy shopping strip.


Lost Ark Antiques & Collectibles offer an amazing array of restored furniture, industrial items, antiques, and collectibles. You'll find them at 294-296 Kororoit Creek Rd in Williamstown. Click here for a great review. Lost Ark are open from 9.30am to 5.30pm weekdays, and 10.30am to 5pm on weekends.

Grace and Willow Boutique feature a range of clothing designers, shoes, and accessories for women. The store has also branched out to offer some homewares like cushions and wall art. They are located at 5 Douglas Parade in Williamstown. Opening hours are 10am to 5.30pm Monday to Tuesdays, and to 6pm on other weekdays. The store is also open 9am to 5pm Saturday, and 11am to 4pm on Sundays.

Book and Paper are nearby at 38 Douglas Parade. This bookshop has a range of classic and modern novel, and offers entertaining and engaging books for children and young adults. The shop is open from 9.30am to 5.30pm weekdays, 9.30am to 4pm Saturdays, and 11am to 3pm Sundays

Cafes and Restaurants

If you are after some delicious cakes, or a great breakfast, check out Tick Tock Cafe. They serve up fresh croissants, bagels, and sandwiches, and cater to dietary needs. There is a courtyard at the rear, and an undercover dining area if it's a bit wintry outside. Tick Tock is at 81 Nelson Place in Williamstown, and they are open from 7am to 10pm every day.

West Eighty One is perfectly situated opposite Williamstown beach at number 81 on The Esplanade. This popular venue serves breakfast and lunch during the week, and dinner toward the end of the week (they are also licensed). The dinner menu includes pasta, arancini, pizza, and delicious desserts. They are open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursdays, and 8am to 9pm on weekends.

Santorini Restaurant is at 1 Parker Street and serves delicious Mediterranean dishes for lunch Fridays to Sundays, and dinner every night. The restaurant is in an Old Post Office, and they also have a range of wines and beers to complement your meal. A link to the menu is here.


Atomic Bar is a cafe, restaurant and bar in the evenings Atomic is open from 11am to 11pm Tuesday to Thursdays, 11am to 1am Fridays, 9am to 1am Saturdays, and 9am to 11pm Sundays. The bar is located at 183-185 Nelson Place in Williamstown.

Prince Albert Hotel is a classy venue, pouring craft beer, with delicious meals in a cosy setting. You can check out their menu here.. They are at 149 Douglas Parade in Williamstown. Opening hours are 3pm to midnight Monday to Wednesdays, 2pm to midnight on Thursdays, noon to midnight Friday and Saturdays, and noon to 11pm Sundays.


Williamstown Beach is a great place to stroll in the cooler months, and very popular in Summer. The Esplanade runs along the bay, and there are also lush botanical gardens nearby.

The Williamstown Crafts Market operates on the third Sunday of the month between 10am and 4pm. It is located in the Historic Commonwealth Reserve at 181A Nelson Place. There are usually 70 or 80 stalls selling handmade or homegrown items, with a range of food vendors, and even live music.

Getting to Williamstown

Williamstown is a 20-minute drive from the city. There is also a train station, and ferries run from the CBD.
