Flemington is a short trip from the city and has plenty to offer including cosy cafes, a wide range of restaurants, picturesque parkland, and an interesting range of stores and outlets

Cafes and Restaurants

The Noughts and Crosses menu includes a range of fresh and seasonal produce with Small Batch coffee, in a cosy space at 32 Pin Oak Crescent. They serve great breakfast rolls and eggs and sides, along with a short but well crafted lunch menu and drinks. The cafe is open on weekdays from 7am to 4pm and weekends from 7.30am.

Mama Bear Cafe offer a great brunch and all day menu including a halloumi stack, zucchini fritters, tempting waffles, and a kids menu. Mama Bear Cafe is at 528/531 Racecourse Rd in Flemington and is open from 7am to 3pm weekdays, and 8am to 4pm on weekends.



Saint Lucent is a bit more upmarket with french toast brioche, and eggs benedict with potato croquettes on offer. They also serve a range of healthy salads and toasted sandwiches for lunch. The cafe is at 307 Racecourse Road, and the hours are 7am to 4pm weekdays, and 8am to 4pm weekends.

Pepper is a restaurant at 44 Pin Oak Crescent near Newmarket train station. They offer breakfast and lunch daily and dinner on Thursdays and Fridays. Pepper serves up fresh wraps, pasta, fish, and burgers throughout the day, and they are also licensed.

Flemington Racecourse[/LINK] is famous for the Melbourne Cup run on the first Tuesday in November, although a range of other events are held throughout the year on this beautiful course.



Coronet Park is at 31 Coronet Street in Flemington and has a local cafe nearby, and playground for the kids. There are also BBQ facilities and plenty of seating.

Shopping in Flemington

Rotary Club opportunity shop sells a range of second-hand clothing, furniture, homewares, and books. The store is at 444 Racecourse Road in Flemington. Opening hours are Monday to Wednesdays 11am to 5pm, Thursday and Fridays 11am to 6pm, and Saturdays from 10am to 2pm.

Flemington Cycles are nearby at 450 Racecourse Road. The store sells a wide range of bikes, accessories, clothing, and they provide bike repairs and services. Flemington Cycles are open from 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursdays, to 6pm on Fridays, and from 9am to 4pm Saturdays.

If you like Christmas so much you want it all year round, then check out Christmas Kingdom . Open from 10am to 5pm Thursdays and Fridays (and to 4pm on Saturdays), this fun store on the corner of Ascot Vale Road and Duncan Street, is full of Christmas decorations, trees, lights and more.

Getting to and from Flemington

Flemington is only 4 kilometres north-west of the Melbourne CBD, and is well served by public transport. There are two railway stations nearby including Newmarket on the Craigieburn line and Flemington Bridge on the Upfield line. Tram routes 57 and 59 also service the area.
