Go Snorkelling For the Adelaide Shorebird Festival in November
Highlights of What's On in Adelaide in November There's no mistaking that Christmas is close as we move into November. The Christmas Pageant returns again in the middle of the month to delight the kids of Adelaide, and Christmas decorations are going up already. There are so many festivals, fairs and markets in Adelaide coming up in November that we've listed all of the markets separately this month.
If you're just looking for a good time and exciting things to do, then look no further than the Adelaide Shorebirds Festival which runs all through November. The festival is actually not just for bird enthusiasts: it's for people like you that want to take a free Port River cruise, go snorkelling or kayaking free, or take the family on a free guided walk with a ranger. Why travel to Thailand to get the flavours of South East Asia when a trip to Glenelg on Saturday November 4 will bring you a taste of amazing Thai foods and culture free at the Loy Krathong Festival.
On the Sunday head for Mount Lofty in the Adelaide Hills to help the Botanic Garden celebrate their 40th birthday. You'll find lots of free things to do and can try tasty wine and cider from local Adelaide Hills producers
The following weekend brings the Great South Aussie Duck Race in Strathalbyn and you would be quackers to miss the fun - if you do, don't let it get you 'down' though.
Santa is Coming to Adelaide With the Christmas Pageant
What's On in Adelaide - Free Things to Do in November South Australia's Feast Festival is back in November to celebrate life for the LGBTIQ community and their friends. It kicks off with the free and family-friendly Adelaide Pride March, and the festival ends with a fantastic Picnic in the Park (not free).
Another very popular free event south of Adelaide is the Strawberry Fair on Sunday November 5 which is packed with fun for kids and adults. You'll rarely find a primary school fair with such variety of food available. Another one for families is the free outdoor cinema screening Finding Dory at Civic Park.
The Vintage and Handmade Market at Plant 4 in Bowden brings you the best of all - a vibrant makers market full of artisan goodies, together with the gourmet food, great drinks and party atmosphere of Plant 4 over the weekend of November 4-5.
Not Free, but Fun Things to Do in Adelaide
Sunday November 5 brings a choice between the Maker Faire Adelaide at Tonsley which is fantastic fun for kids and technology fans. Wine lovers and train enthusiasts can escape the city on a trip back in time, travelling on the South Coast Wine Train.
You won't have to go far to party on for the Melbourne Cup - just head over to the Rose Garden in Adelaide's Victoria Square for your free fun.
Other Exciting Things to See and Do in Adelaide
As you wander between festivals, fairs and markets this month, see how many ghost signs in Adelaide that you can spot. You will be surprised - they show up in the most unlikely places. The Willunga Slate Trail is a likely place to find some, or possibly the Sixth Street Walk.
Adelaide needs more fun stuff for the more nerdy type socially awkward. There's hardly anything since Hello Kitty Cafe, Moe Moe Hearts and that cafe run by Uni people in the city closed down. I love the markets and faires, but would like to see less sheeplish events.
