Looking For Fun Things to Do? Adelaide Comes Alive in Winter
Highlights of What's On in Adelaide in June As chill winds in June announce the arrival of winter in Adelaide, it's no excuse to retreat and huddle at home. In fact, with electricity prices sky high, you can still go out and save money by enjoying a hot mulled wine in the Adelaide Hills. But you don't even need to go past the city for winter entertainment in Adelaide, because our newest museum will warmly welcome you inside. For a very different experience try some of the free things to do at MOD. at UniSA.
Exercise is the best way to stay warm in winter, bringing health benefits too. Join in the free guided walks in the Adelaide parklands and discover places that you have never seen. Or head for Belair National Park in the Adelaide Hills, where willing guides will show you its hidden secrets free. Keep an eye out for the stunning purple mushrooms that are around at the moment.
If you're smart, you will plan ahead for Winterfest Port Adelaide at Harts Mill in July. Bookings are already open for the ice skating, food events and other entertainment. If you don't book early you may miss out completely.
What's On in Adelaide - Free Things to Do in June One of the popular free things to do in Adelaide is to join the party at a Fork on the Road food truck festival. The next food fiesta is on June 2 at Port Adelaide with the 80's theme "Fork Just Wants to Have Fun". Don't forget to take the family.
After you see MOD. at UniSA, it's only a few steps to see the stunning exhibits at the free Fuse Glass Prize finalist exhibition at the Jam Factory gallery on Morphett Street. I just love the creativity of the entries.
Another free competition is also open to everyone, and needs no special skills. Take a photo of any state heritage listed place in South Australia, and enter the photo in the free Heritage SnAps Competition. You're not allowed to edit your photo in most categories, so the only hard part is pressing the button. Then send your photo(s) in, and see if you have won a prize.
Take a Photo of Any State Heritage Building and You Could Win a Prize
Next up is the Queen's birthday June long weekend. Escape the city to the sunny Flinders Ranges for a weekend of family fun, riding mountain bikes at the Fat Tyre Festival, alternatively go with the flow at Sea and Vines. Or join the culture club at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival - the choice is yours.
Other Exciting Things to See and Do in Adelaide
Our writers have been foraging for feasts for you, and the Mukbang Korean cuisine bar comes well recommended. If you're shopping for out of season specials at Harbourtown, give the Wooden Spoon a go, or wander down the road to refresh yourself at Coffeetime Co at Glenelg.
