Find Fabulous Christmas Lights Displays in Adelaide
Highlights of What's On in Adelaide in December Christmas is everywhere this month, no matter what your religious beliefs (or not). Christmas parties, Christmas shopping, Christmas gifts, and Christmas carols and pageants. You're a part of Christmas whether you opted in or not.
In fact, it's actually hard to find a lot happening this month that doesn't have that cheery Christmas connection, so let's cover them first. The Adelaide Town Hall projection display sets a shining example that's definitely worth a look, and of course Lobethal Lights are great too.
The place to be this month is the Adelaide parklands on the banks of the River Torrens, where there are so many exciting things to do in December. Perhaps the simplest way to find them is by following the free Art of Christmas creative tree trail. It will lead you straight to the Adelaide Convention Centre's new Home Ground cafe court where you can sit on the river bank and enjoy the best of South Australian food and wine.
Lose any excess calories with a quick detour to Adelaide's new free Urban Beach at Pinky Flat. You won't be able to take a dip, but healthy exercise like volleyball and yoga should do the trick. Grab another drink at the Urban Beach bar to rehydrate before crossing the Adelaide Oval footbridge, where you might be in time to watch the cricket at the new Backyard Cricket Pontoon (free entry).
Families looking for free entertainment and fun for kids can't miss the free outdoor movies scattered around Adelaide over the next couple of months. But what children really love is all the fun of the fair, and the Semaphore summer carnival is back from December 16 with free carols, free fireworks and loads of fun things to do on the Semaphore foreshore.
One of the top things to do in Adelaide is getting married, and soon there will be a lot more people wanting to do just that. Did you know that you can get married free in the parklands from January, but of course you will need to BYO celebrant, partner and party.

Fans of car racing will look forward to the Adelaide Motorsports Festival from December 7. When the natural world is more your thing head for the Gorge Wildlife Park, or visit the latest exhibition from the SA Maritime Museum - Leviathan: An Astonishing History of Whales from December 15.
Other Exciting Things to See and Do in Adelaide We're always looking for new things to do over summer: if you're south of Adelaide here's quite a list to keep you amused. While you're there, pop in to the Cream Cafe at Brighton for a tasty bite.
