Jetty Road in Adelaide's coastal suburb of Brighton has some very different shops waiting for you to discover. What a pleasure it is to stroll along and discover some unique stores away from the chain store humdrum of the shopping malls.

Jetty Road may be a place you go to eat or to stop nearby for a visit to the beach, however, it really is worth making it a destination just to spend time at the stores. It is a pretty street with views down to the sea, still charming with the old shopfronts of years ago. Recently I explored the street and met some of the store owners stocking some beautiful products.

GLAMOUR ME
79a Jetty Rd, Brighton. Wednesday to Sunday 10.30-4.30pm.
Starting at the western end closest to the jetty, I found my nose pressed up against the window of 'Glamour Me'. Wow, stepping inside is like being in Aladdin's Cave. This jewellery and accessories store has both fun everyday wear and special occasion pieces. Customers include corporate power dressers, school girls with a formal coming up, and many brides and their mothers. Or just walk in with no reason at all for that unique piece. They also do girl's night-in parties and will post orders. The store looks gorgeous with its vintage vibe and a chair for the owner's Grandma when she visits. How sweet. How glam.

GET IN2 THE MOOSE
Shop 1/49 Jetty Road. Brighton. Open 7 days 10-5pm
This store takes a while to explore. The shelves are I would say, a little too overloaded with stock in the homewares, lifestyle and home décor range. Spend longer in here to look more closely and you will find good brands and top quality. Here are designer looks for your home with giant wall clocks, cushions, vases and so much more. Also a good selection of boho beach style clothing with brands such as Lula Soul. This is fun holiday shopping at home. Strange name, but an old favourite on Jetty Road.

With so much on offer along Jetty Road, with even more than I selected here, I would suggest a visit to two or three shops, then take a break at one of the many cafes. Do a weekend notes search for 'Brighton' for cafes and coffee spots. For a pub lunch see The Esplanade Hotel or the Brighton Metro Hotel. both on Jetty Road. You could really spend a whole day here at this delightful seaside village atmosphere. So much more peaceful than at Glenelg. If you drive beware the enforced parking times, so check the sign and set the alarm on your phone. Better still, grab a shopping bag and get the train to Brighton station which is a short walk away. Top the day off with a stroll along the Esplanade with views out to sea.

I was pleasantly surprised at the range and quality for sale here. And all the shopkeepers are warm and friendly and happy to assist you. Jetty Road is abuzz with some great stores, stocked with unusual wares, so next time you want to catch up with a friend give the mall a miss and head to the beach.
