How exciting - winter can be mothballed for another year, spring has arrived and school holidays are a hop and a skip away. And I just know that parents and grandparents too are looking for ways and means to keep the children entertained and amused, without breaking the bank.
Here is my list (in alphabetical order) of top September school holiday activities on the Sunny Coast - I'm hoping by putting them all 'under two roofs' - Part 1 and Part 2 - it will make for easier planning and pre-booking, if necessary.
1. Australian Adventure Park

Australian Adventure Park in Burrum River. For the September school holidays, Australian Adventure Park have a very special offer running. If holidaymakers book two huge lakeside, unpowered sites - 15m x 15m - for $80 per night, which caters for up to eight people, it's a saving of $40 per night! An additional charge of $10 per person will be applied for individuals over and above the eight people.

2. Blaze the Comedy Magic Man

3. Coast Club School Holiday Activities
Sunshine Coast Recreation Centre, 80 Currimundi Rd, Currimundi, QLD 4551
Monday 24 September to Friday 5 October | All sessions start at 9.00am
From $28.10 to $64.75
Queensland Recreation Centres are running heart-pumping adventure activities during the September school holidays for children eight years of age and older. These school holiday activities at the Sunshine Coast Recreation Centre commence on Monday 24 September and run through to Friday 5 October. Children have a choice of either a half day (three hour = $28.10) or a full day (six hour = $64.75) activity sessions and the best news of all is that parents and families are welcome too. Great choice to have - either drop the children off or join in for some energetic family fun!

The QLD Recreation Centres offer a wide variety of activities for
Coast Club, ranging from
rock climbing and caving; giant swing; high ropes; surfing; archery; fencing; circus skills and even stand-up paddle boarding.

4. Farmyard Espresso - Animal Sanctuary

Go country during the school holidays at the fantastic petting farm in North Arm, now called
Farmyard Espresso - Animal Sanctuary. When I wrote about The Animal Sanctuary it was called
PoulTree Park, but it's still the same great location with the same fabulous aim of allowing children to interact with miniature farm animals.

The Animal Sanctuary is open only on certain days and at certain times - see dates and times above.
Entry tickets are
ONLY $5 per person and can be
pre-purchased online here - this is a better deal as non-ticket holders get less time with the animals. Mums and dads can
pre-order their Farmyard Espresso voucher online here too - a great idea. Pack a picnic and head out to the Animal Sanctuary for a wonderful morning of animal loving, petting and feeding - who doesn't love a fluffy cuddle. Open days at the Animal Sanctuary are weather dependent.
5. Marine Biologist for a Day
North Shore Community Centre, 701 David Low Way, Mudjimba, QLD 4564
Monday 24 September | 9.00am to 2.30pm
$85 per student (no lunch) | $100 per student (includes lunch)
For one day only! An incredible opportunity for High School students from years 7 to 12 to dip their toes into the ocean with a full day
Marine Biologist for a Day workshop. This educational programme will delve into the world of marine science, introducing students to the marine environment, whilst engaging students in the science that surrounds our 'fishy' world. This
workshop is also ideal to spark the interest of high school students with little or no previous exposure to marine sciences.

Students will be introduced to a diverse selection of marine biology topics, including fish adaptations, dangerous marine animals, shark ecology, echinoderm classification and heaps more - enough to pique their curiosity.
A fully qualified marine biologist will use live touch tanks and preserved marine animals to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the ocean and the creatures that live in it. All students will receive a Certificate of Participation. Spaces are very limited and bookings are absolutely essential.

6. Miniature Train Rides at Model Railway Park

Chug along to the
Model Railway Park in Nambour for their once-a-month only day of
miniature train rides. A fabulous day out for the whole family with large areas of open lawn, giving visitors the opportunity to have a picnic under the trees and to enjoy the trains toot-tooting past.

Adults and children vie good-naturedly for seats on these superbly maintained little miniature trains, complete with bellowing smoke and toot-tooting. The children just absolutely love it!
Please ensure that enclosed footwear is worn, for riding on the trains. Our furry family members, on a leash, are also welcome.
An excellent way to spend a Sunday!
