Books in the Backyard @ State Library of QLD

The Chief Storyteller ensured all children revealed their secret passes and password before entering the Top Secret Storytellers Clubhouse - an imaginatively transformed corner of the Queensland Terrace at The State Library.

Sheets and curtains had been erected just as kids would on a playful afternoon. The storytellers engaged the children and parents in fantastic acting out of new and loved books.

My family were particularly captivated by Isabella's Garden - which was a magical shadow performance. It inspired us to make our own shadow play which has kept us entertained ever since.

The Queensland Terrace was a quiet, shady place for the kids to play as part of the "Books in the Backyard" concept.

Well done and thank you to the State Library for providing such magic during the long school holidays.
