Planning on going to the movies during these school holidays, and wondering which movies to take the kids to? There are a number of great movies on at the moment, in fact there's something for everyone, in the latest family-friendly movie line-up.


Transformers: The Age of Extinction

The giant Transformer robots are back. The story begins four years after the invasion of Chicago. The epic battle saved the world but has left a great city in ruins. Optimus Prime is injured, but is repaired by Cade Yeager, a struggling inventor. Once repaired Optimus Prime manages to rally the remaining Autobots - Bumblebee, Hound, Drift, and Crosshairs.

As humanity tries to recover from the invasion, a shadowy group reveals itself and attempts to change the direction of history. A new enemy arises, Galvatron, who was created using data from Megatron's head. This movie also features, for the first time, the Dinobots.

Galvatron and Optimus Prime do battle, Galvatron eventually retreats, vowing to return and battle Optimus Prime another day

Transformers: The Age of Extinction follows the incredible adventures of the Autobots and Decepticons, and the battle between good and evil.

Rio 2

Blue, Jewel and their three kids, Carla, Bia and Tiago, enjoy a happy family life in Rio. They venture away from the magical city into the wilds of the Amazon for a family reunion. Blu is out of his element in a land he doesn't know, and he must once again face is old enemy, Nigel.

All your favorite Rio characters are back, and they're joined by a host of new ones, plus great original new music and songs.

How to Train Your Dragon 2

This is the thrilling second chapter of the epic How To Train Your Dragon trilogy. The story returns to the fantastical world of the heroic Viking Hiccup and his faithful dragon Toothless.

Hiccup discovers the secret of his origins, and sets off on a journey into the heart of a sanctuary run by a dragon rider named Valka.

Hiccup and Toothless, the inseparable duo, must save the future of men, save the dragons from a hunter named Drago and protect the peace.

Rated PG.


Tinkerbell and the Pirate Fairy

Zarina, a dust-keeper fairy, steals Pixie Hollow's Blue Pixie Dust and flies away to join forces with the pirates of Skull Rock. Tinker Bell and her fairy friends must set out on an adventure to retrieve the Blue Pixie Dust and return home to save Pixie Hollow.

Zarina has become the captain of a pirate crew, including a cabin boy named James Hook. The fairies have their powers magically switched and are captured by the pirates. Tinker Bell and the others attempt to escape, Zarina is offered the chance to go home with them and they all return to Pixie Hollow.

Hook angrily swears revenge and he is attacked by a baby crocodile.

Maleficent

The Disney movie, Maleficent, tells the untold story of the villain from Sleeping Beauty, and the events that turned her heart to stone. Driven by revenge, Maleficent places a curse upon the human king's newborn daughter Aurora. Maleficent watches over Aurora from afar and grows to care about her.

As the child grows up, she is caught in the middle of the conflict between the human kingdom she was born into and the forest kingdom she has grown to love. Maleficent realises that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.

Belle and Sebastian

Set during war time, high in the French Alps, this is a story about a boy and his dog. Sebastian and his Grandpa, Cesar, search for a beast that is terrorising farmers and killing their sheep. The beast turns out to be a wild mountain dog, that Sebastian befriends and names Belle.

Later Belle and Sebastian begin helping Jewish refugees escape over the boarder into Switzerland.

Belle and Sebastian is a wonderful story of danger, adventure and friendship.

Rated PG.
