Drink away your blues with views and great drinks too
There is plenty to do, see and experience in Melbourne and if you enjoy great views and amazing drinks then this list is for you!
The list below includes the best rooftop bars across Melbourne to enjoy that sky-high libation:
1. Melina on the Rooftop
Where: 168 Lonsdale St, Melbourne Details: This is one of the newest kids on the rooftop block and here you will find a contemporary bar and eatery with a Mediterranean fare that keeps in with the Melbourne-Hellenic theme of this Greek Centre region. Handy Tip: Arrive about 4pm to appreciate the sunset views and to grab early seats before they are all taken!
2. Naked in the Sky Where: 285 Brunswick St, Melbourne Details: This cheeky named bar has crowds flocking in with its vista over the city and Brunswick Street which is unrivalled. There is a huge drinks list with a Spanish/Basque influence to complement the Pintox menu. Handy Tip: Same as Melina on the Rooftop, arrive about 4pm to appreciate the sunset views and to grab early seats before they are all taken!
3. Rooftop Bar
Where: Located in Curtin House, 252 Swanston St, Melbourne Details: Hence the name, this is one of Melbourne's original rooftop bars and still one of the best! Handy tip: Keep in mind this is totally open to the elements and in the summer season this turns into a Rooftop Cinema with limited access.
Where: 103 Lonsdale St, Melbourne
Details: Across from Melina on the Rooftop, Bomba offers a different vantage point over Lonsdale Street and offers Spanish tapas and the copper-top bar is a definite drawcard.
Handy tip: There is a retractable roof, making it perfect for the unpredictable Melbourne weather- no need to run inside when it starts to drizzle.
Where: 333 Lygon Street (Jimmy Watson Lane, Carlton)
Details: Jimmy Watson's restaurant and wine bar has been in business since 1935, so it is no wonder that the addition of a rooftop bar to the venue has been warmly embraced!
This little oasis in the city is a green space within the urban scrum.
Handy Tip: Arrive early to get seats as there is no bookings for this intimate hideaway.
6. Madame Brussels
Where: Level 3, 59 Bourke St, Melbourne
Details: This is without doubt one of the cutest rooftop bars in Melbourne with fake turf grass, jugs of cocktails, raspberry cupcakes and waiters in tennis whites you will feel like it's the Wimbledon Tennis Open!
Where: 2/ 161 Spring St, Melbourne (upstairs from The European, through Melbourne Supper Club)
Details: The decent climb is certainly worth it with a European-style rooftop terrace and views of St Patrick's Cathedral and Parliament House making this rooftop bar on the list.
Handy Tip: Perfect for the colder season as there are mushroom heaters making it appealing in the cooler months.
