The rodeos are raring to go
Rodeos are such fun events! It is exciting to watch this old-fashioned sport which began out of the ranchers herding cattle in some parts of Europe, the United States and Australia.

There are many different types of events at a rodeo and some of these include:

Bareback riding
Bullriding
Saddle-bronc
Steerwrestling
Rope and Tie
Team Roping
Ladies Barrel Race
Breakaway Roping
Steer Undecorating

Not all rodeos will have all these events, however, these are some of the events that you could watch.

HARVEY DICKSON RODEO AND CAMPING FESTIVAL
Double Barrel Entertainment is once again presenting one of our state's unique music and historical rodeos at Harvey Dickson's place. It will be on from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th October 2018, and the address is Harvey Dickson's Country Music Centre, Boyup Brook-Arthur Rd, Boyup Brook.

You need to be tough to enter into these rodeos and this one will include:

Bareknuckle Rodeo
Music and Camping Festival

It will be complete with all the thrills and spills of a rodeo, and the program is as follows:

Family Camping - Opens 12.00 noon, Friday 26th October
Friday night shindig, from 6.00 pm until late
Full point rodeo, on Saturday 27th
Food vendors
Market stalls
Activities for the children
Fully licensed Saloon Bar
Live music all weekend

DARDANUP BULL & BARREL FESTIVAL
The Dardanup Bull & Barrel Festival will have activities for the whole family and will be a fun day out. They will have a lot of market stalls where you can find those country gifts and knick-knacks. If you stay until the night time, you can watch the burning of the bull.

Entertainment will be non-stop on the Cristal Stage and you can see more at this link.

This will be held on Saturday 6th October, from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm with the evening entertainment from 5.00 pm to 9.00 pm. The theme this year is "The Great Irish Escape".

BODDINGTON LIONS RODEO
This rodeo is the richest one day rodeo in Western Australia! It has been running now since 1976 and has been attracting many people from near and far to Boddington. They have a fantastic display of horsemanship as well as mateship in the local arena.

This year, you will be able to camp in their new bell tents. You can now book for luxury twin or quad share tents, which will include quality air mattress and linen, floor matting and solar-powered lamps. Book for this at the Boddington Caravan Park, phone 08 9883 8018.

This will be on from 3rd and 4th November, from 9.00 am and it will be held at Boddington Rodeo Grounds, Hakea Rd, Boddington.

Their program for this weekend is as follows:

Friday 2nd November:
Act Belong Commit Friday Night Festival is a great family focused event hosted by the Shire of Boddington on the Boddington old-school oval. There will be:

Nolan Brothers Stunt Riders
Desert Mist Live Country Band
Camel Rides
Bouncy Castles
Bucking Bulls
Face painting
Obstacle Courses
And more children's amusements
Heaps of food trucks
Lots of stalls with general retail stall holders

Boddington Arts Council Art and Photography Competition will showcase some of the best local artists of the area and it will be on at the Boddington town hall.

Boddington Hotel will have live music from 8.30 pm until late

Saturday 3rd November
Rodeo Street Parade will start from the old school oval and be led by the Junkadelic Brass Band. It will then wind its way through the main streets of Boddington. here will be floats, entertainers, and you can have breakfast in the main street. The theme of the parade this year is a "Recycled Circus".

Rodeo heats commence from 9.00 am Saturday 3rd and the main event is on at 1.00 pm.

Bushmans Ball is from 5.00 pm onwards and there will be three bands including the Magnificent 7, The Western Suntones and Desert Mist

Shearing Competition will take place all day opposite the main entrance to the rodeo.

Boddington Ute Muster

Sunday 4th November
Boddington Community Markets will be held at the Boddington Arts Council on Sunday morning.

ASH BLACK MEMORIAL RODEO
This one will be an evening full of rodeo that the whole family will enjoy. It will feature some of Australia's top cowboys and cowgirls who will compete for points to become Australian champions of bull riding, barrel racing, bronc riding and bareback.

This event is being organised by Tammy Letton who is Ash Black's mother and it is assisted by Rodeofest to bring a greater awareness of depression and suicide to the community. Ash Black was a cowboy, bull rider, and horseman, who took his own life in 2015.

It will be held on 17th November at 6.00 pm at Hall Park, Mandurah. You can get your tickets here. Tickets will also be available at the gate unless sold out prior.
