Top Rock Snorkelling - Vanuatu

There is something magical about Vanuatu, it never fails to impress and I must say it is my favourite place on earth. And visiting Top Rock added even more magic, as it was so tranquil, relaxing and exciting!
I have been to Vanuatu many times before and I am always amazed by the country's natural beauty. It is purely phenomenal and breathtakingly beautiful, and visiting Top Rock captured that beauty all over again…
There are two ways to visit Top Rock, through a Tour or on your own. We went on a tour with
Atmosphere Tours and we were certainly impressed with their friendliness and professionalism as well as their passion. Atmosphere is an indigenous Ni-Vanuatu company owned, (this is why we always choose them for our tours- knowing that they are 100% locally owned, which means funds go towards helping the native people of the country). It is also a safe, reliable way to see Vanuatu.
We were greeted by Batis, who was our driver for the day, and upon meeting it felt like we were lifetime friends (this is what happens when you visit Vanuatu, the people you meet instantly feel like friends and by the end of your journey they become family).
He was informative and we shared plenty of jokes too, making the experience more wonderful.
Upon arrival to Top Rock we were greeted by a local guide and his wife Selene at the village. We were taken for a lovely stroll around the neat, clean and picturesque village where we met the excited school children, visited the churches which were being re-built after the tragic Cyclone Pam and wandered around meeting the friendly and welcoming people in the Village.
After our ravishing walk, Selene led us to Top Rock where her husband took us on a journey to the underwater world. Here we snorkelled through reefs and underwater coves / caves, around marine life in crystal clear waters... it was the bluest of all blue waters! I could not help but feel like I belonged in this tranquil underwater world.
The whole experience was spectacular and snorkelling between coves was a fascinating and mesmerising experience, and one I will certainly remember for a very long time!
After we snorkelled we were guided to the Point Lookout where refreshments and awe-inspiring views awaited us.
The Lookout truly does steal your breath away as the reefs can be seen along with mountains in the background, giving you such a surreal feeling.
It felt magical, peaceful and intriguing, and we cannot wait to return back to Top Rock for another wonderful experience.
From our Driver Batis to Selene and her husband, everyone was so friendly and professional and it was a sad moment to wave goodbye…
You must add this on your bucket list!
There are plenty of activities to do at Top Rock including canoe riding, fish feeding, shallow birds cave, walks, exploring underwater caves and coves, and of course snorkelling!
Our Tour with Atmosphere included the fees to Top Rock, however, if you want to visit them on your own it is 500 vatu ($5 AUD) for adults and 250 Vatu ($2.50 AUD) for children.
This is a perfect way to see a piece of Vanuatu, particularly if you are visiting for a day by cruise ship.
