Depending on which way you look at it, the good news is that winter is definitely on its way! Us Sunny - note the adjective - Coasters live in fear of winter - you know those freezing cold days when the temperatures hit 22 degrees Celsius and the wind factor drops it another notch or two, and we need to pull out faux fur coats, beanies and hip-length boots! Well, according to those in the know, we're well and truly going to be feeling the 'chill' any day soon.
So, to compensate for those really 'chilly' days, here's my list of restaurants WITH toasty fireplaces on the Sunshine Coast to help ease us into the 'pain' of any Arctic weather that might be on its way. For ease of reference, I've chosen to do them alphabetically.
Bohemian Bungalow Restaurant and Bar Where: 69 Memorial Drive, Eumundi Call: (07) 5442-8679
Unconventional, a little different, a little Bohemian - Image: Elaine de Wet
Bohemian Bungalow or The Boho for short, was one of my all-time favourite restaurants to visit last year, with its funky, creative decor and stunningly vibrant colours. Not forgetting, of course, that I've always fancied myself to be a bit of a flower child and love everything Bohemian - a hippy of the relevant era!
The Bohemian Bungalow - unconventional, a little different, a little Bohemian - loves any excuse to bring regulars, locals and friends together for a fun night out and what better way to celebrate than in front of a floor-to-ceiling rustic stone fireplace. The warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you walk through the door and the unpretentious service will immediately ensure you feel right at home and ready to overindulge in the hearty food and beer on tap. You might be so comfy, you'll wish you'd come dressed in your fluffy slippers and onesie!

Embassy XO at Sunshine Beach overlooks the spectacular surf beach and picturesque village, with soft lighting and exotic contemporary decor. Yes, Sunny Coasters, we can have it all - beach views and fireplaces!
Imagine sipping a cocktail in the lounge bar, enjoying the warmth of the fireplace, whilst still having sensational beach views - life doesn't get much better than that! The Embassy XO's menu is a fusion of modern Asian and Chinese fine dining, serving up a variety of unique dishes. Yum Cha is available every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12noon until 2.00pm.
A new Bar Menu with $5 bar snacks is available from at Embassy XO from Wednesdays to Sundays from 3.00pm to 6.00pm, in the lounge bar - a perfect excuse to snuggle back, enjoy a wine (or two) in front of the mesmerising flames.
Flame Hill Vineyard Where: 249 Western Avenue, Montville Call: (07) 5478-5920
Flame Hill Vineyard is nestled in the Blackall Range - Image: Elaine de Wet
Another one of my favourite go-to spots is Flame Hill Vineyard in Montville, but in saying this, I've never actually had a meal here - one definitely has to pre-book - but have managed a spot or two of wine-tasting and, of course, have attended their famous Annual Grape Stomp.
Flame Hill Vineyard, nestled into the Blackall Range, boasts wood-burner fireplaces, guaranteed to warm the cockles of your heart, whilst enjoying the stunning views towards the ocean. Flame Hill Vineyard pride themselves on their own kitchen garden and offer a paddock-to-plate experience to diners with estate-grown wines to match.
A wood-burner fireplace in the 'tasting' lounge of Flame Hill Vineyard, adds to the allure and ambience of a wine-tasting session - perfect for those chilly days on the Sunshine Coast! And, yes the temperatures do drop slightly lower up in Montville than what we experience down on the Coast.

Flame Hill Vineyard is open seven days a week from 10.30am to 5.30pm for wine tastings and sales and the Restaurant is open from Thursday to Monday for a-la-carte lunch and casual alfresco terrace dining.
If you're anything like me and suffer from cenosillicaphobia - the fear of an empty wine glass - then make sure you bookmark Flame Hill Vineyard where wine, scenery, the setting and hospitality are all in perfect harmony.

Wild Rocket at Misty's Micro Brewery is located in one of the most historic buildings in Montville. This landmark building has three levels which include a licensed bar, a stunning garden area, the winter quintessential open fire and seating for up to eighty people in one area. With its abundance of quirky nooks and crannies, Misty's certainly creates a unique setting that is classic 'Montville'.
Wild Rocket at Misty's Micro Brewery offers a unique location for intimate weddings and receptions - hire the whole venue, the garden or one floor for a smaller function. Another perk at Wild Rocket is the wheelchair access as well as the availability of a courtesy bus pick up - it is absolutely essential to pre-book the courtesy bus.
