I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.
Located on the top end of Bridge Street in Uralla the Top Pub offers something for everyone, in their own words they are "everybody's pub". Officially the Coachwood and Cedar Hotel, it was built in 1881 as the Great Northern Hotel, a second storey was added in 1904 as The Commercial Hotel. The current owners have been here over 25 years turning it into a 'top pub' and are passionate about their town and regional produce including meat, eggs, wines, beers and liqueurs.
The beer garden is a lovely relaxing area to enjoy a drink and or a meal with friends and family. There are plenty of quirky touches including a colourful flower mural on the pub wall. There is a safe play area for children and it is also dog friendly. The indoor dining room is nicely decorated with flowers on the tables and would be cosy in winter due to the fireplace. Upstairs Willmont Restaurant and Bar is available for private functions of either high tea or degustation dinners for 15-28 adults.
Opening hours for dining are lunch from 12 - 2:30pm and dinner 6 - 9pm. The menu is full of interesting and delicious items including plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options. The under 11 years children's menu is $10 a head, including a poppa and ice cream cup.
