18 course degustation, most expensive dining, is it the best
Sometimes money is no object, or perhaps there is someone you are really wanting to impress and you are looking for a great no holds barred restaurant. There are many special treats available for dining out in Melbourne, with wonderful haute cuisine offerings throughout the city and the suburbs.
It is more difficult to list just 3 of them than to give you a list of hundreds, as there are so many great choices. Here are some suggestions for you.
Keep in mind that many of these will require advance bookings and that there are plenty of other options - this is just to give you a shortlist.
A newcomer is Cutler and Co - it is located in a hip area filled with up and coming restaurants and it's a great choice for upmarket dining with a distinctly Australian style. Perfect if you are bringing overseas guests or overseas business clients.
This winter they are offering a special - Wild Food.Wild Wine. Inspired by the bounty of farmers, foragers, divers and fishers, celebrating the traditional techniques of cold-weather cooking while honouring the intrinsic natural flavours of untamed local produce.

South Melbourne's new addition is the seriously indulgent dining restaurant Lume. If you love degustation menus, Lume has an amazing 18-course menu spanning over several hours. There is even a plant-based menu but at $300pp, it is a true dining experience.

Smith & Daughters *Images Smith & Daughters facebook page
Not wanting to leave vegans out of an upmarket dining experience - head to Cambridge St (Previously Brunswick Street) for Smith and Daughters. It is a funky place with an almost retro vibe, whilst the food was completely vegan is upmarket and exquisite.
We tried the dark chocolate truffles pate and several other small dishes (which we chose to share rather than a large main meal) everything we tried was rich, decadent and delightful.

There are so many other places to share that pinning this down to a list of just 3 is extremely difficult However, hopefully, these three have given you some new dining experiences.
