If you're a parent of a toddler, you'll know that keeping them entertained can be a challenge. They don't sit still for long, are too young for half the equipment at the playground and are still a couple of years away from starting school. A play centre is a good way to keep them from drawing on the walls for a few hours, yet so many venues aren't well catered to toddlers. There are however, some awesome exceptions to this – here are some of the best play centres for toddlers in Perth.

Toddler Town Central, Canning Vale
6 Bannick Court, Canning Vale
0402 481 916
Website: See the Facebook page

Toddler Town Central is a play centre for the under fives only, meaning everything is designed for toddlers. They run different activities each week, including dance parties and science experiments, plus themed birthday parties at a reasonable price.

Sweet Little Play Centre, Joondalup
6/45 Winton Road, Joondalup
9301 0005
Entry: $8.95 for children over six months

Sweet Little Play Centre is another venue just for children aged five and under. There is a heap of soft play, slides, tunnels, ride-on toys, blocks, seesaws, ball pits and even a bouncy castle! There's a café for parents to sit down and have a break.

Little Champs, Bibra Lake
9/40 Port Pirie Street, Bibra Lake
9434 9182
Entry: $8 for children over 12 months old
Website: http://littlechamps.com.au

Another play centre dedicated to the under fives! It is a huge open space with a crazy number of age-appropriate toys, a small climbing frame with slides and lots of little vehicles to ride around on, plus fun music playing in the background. There's also a small café selling coffee, drinks, snacks and small meals. You can read the full review here .

Chipmunks Playland and Cafe, Bibra Lake
18 Tayet Loop, Bibra Lake
9434 6936
Entry: School days - $10.90 for children aged 1-11 years, non-school days $10.90 for children aged 1-2 years and $13.90 for children aged 3-11 years.

Chipmunks are a chain of play centres with locations in Bibra Lake, Kelmscott, Mandurah, Port Kennedy, Wanneroo and Whitfords. While I've visited the Bibra Lake centre frequently, I haven't gotten around to the rest, but I can say that the Bibra Lake franchise is definitely suitable for toddlers. There's a huge, modern play space over three levels just for the under fives, along with an extra section filled with toys. This area has a trampoline, spinning cups, a ball pit, slides and heaps of areas to climb. Read more here .

The Playroom, Rockingham
5 Mackinnon Street, Rockingham
