Having discovered Top Paddock on the upper floor of the Highlander Hotel following dinners at Char Grill, we decided to return and sample their pizzas. Many of the dishes offered at Top Paddock are ideal for sharing. Among them are a range of delectable sounding pizzas. Diners are able to take in the views of the Adelaide Hills while enjoying their meal or watch their favourite sports on the big screen TV.

Great for meat lovers, the mixture of pancetta, pulled pork, beef, bacon and pepperoni on their Top Paddock Pizza gave this pizza a delicious savoury flavour. The addition of barbeque sauce enhanced the smoky flavour of the bacon and pancetta. A topping of rocket leaves added colour and gave the pizza a fresh appearance.

For something that is not as heavy as the Top Paddock Pizza, you can choose to order the Charcoal Chicken Pizza. The generous amount of chicken gave the pizza a meaty texture which was complemented well by the Swiss brown mushrooms and bacon. A generous drizzle of barbeque sauce gave the pizza a smoky taste that was well deserving of its name.

Vegetarians need not worry on missing out as Top Paddock offers a few dishes that do not include meat. One such dish is the Oh My Vegies Pizza, which had a good amount of roast pumpkin to give the pizza an earthy and slightly sweet flavour. A scattering of feta cheese added a salty element to the dish and the truffle oil imparted its distinctive taste to the dish.

For dessert we ordered the Rocky Road Pizza. The gooey marshmallows went a long way in making the pizza very moreish and were partnered perfectly by the Nutella spread on the base. The slightly tart raspberries helped to balance out the sweet marshmallows and the salted caramel sauce tied everything together.

The décor of the restaurant gave it a very causal feel and the tables were spaced a good distance apart from each other. If you are looking for a good place to enjoy delicious food with a group of friends, consider giving Top Paddock a try.
