When one school holidays finish, it is surprising how fast the weeks fly by and the next one rolls around. Each morning it is a flurry of making lunches, packing bags, getting dressed and flying out the door - and before you know it, the term is over! The next school holidays in Canberra will be held between Saturday 29th September and Sunday, 14th October - which isn't far away if you need to book your kids into a fun school holiday activity that they will enjoy. 1/ Kulture Break in Wanniassa run school holiday programs throughout the year, which involve dance classes and visits to local attractions. This October the excursions will be to Floriade, the movies and also to Inflatable World in Kambah. Kids will learn a dance routine and then perform it to family and friends at the end of the week. Australian performer and Dance Boss judge Timomatic began his career as one of the dance teachers at Kulture Break! 2/ Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) in Watson are offering school holiday programs for kids aged 10 and over in 3D animation, game design and visual FX educator. They will be classes in 2D Art for Games, Game Development in Unreal, Introduction to Game Design, Introduction to Boardgame Design & Development and Blasters, Wands and Werewolves: Creative Writing Workshop. 3/ The Budding Theatre in Acton will be having a 4 day school holiday program called Heroes & Villians, for kids aged between 6 - 12 years. This drama program will suit kids who have an interest in heroes, villains, adventures stories, Disney classics, Marvel, DC and creating new characters and concepts for plays. 4/ Australian Sports Camps have a range of sports to choose from with a 3 day tennis program in the first week of the holidays (at Old Parliament House Gardens Tennis Club) and basketball, cricket and soccer at Canberra Grammar School in the second week. 5/ The Canberra Tennis Centre in Lyneham has the October school holidays sorted with tennis classes for children aged between 6 - 12 years. The Tennis World sessions run between 8:30am - 12pm and costs just $33 a session. Learn a new skill, make new friends and be active these school holidays! See here for details.
6/ The Canberra Archery Club, also in Lyneham, will be having a school holiday program between 8th - 12th October, at a cost of $75 a week or $15 for a 1.5 hour lesson. This fun school holiday activity is designed for kids aged 10 and over, to learn the skills of archery and perhaps start a new life-long sport. See here for details.

7/ The Ian Potter Foundation in Deakin, which is run by Questacon staff, will be holding school holiday workshops in 3D Design, App Design, GameCraft, Floating Cranes and Crash Test. These fun workshops are designed for young investors between 10 - 15 years of age, with a wide range of equipment to utilise. The cost is $55 per session. See here for details. 8/ The Australian School of Performing Arts has a 2 day school holiday program designed for 5 - 14 year olds, with song, dance and drama. The program will be held at Canberra Grammar School and costs $175. This exciting program will be held in locations all across Australia and is designed for children from Kindergarten to Year 8, boys and girls, to gain confidence and discover and develop their inner performer! 10/ Kids Pantry cooking school in Deakin may be last on this list, but it is certainly not least! This popular cooking school has a wide range of cooking classes to book into these October school holidays, as well as all throughout the year. Kids can stay for one class, or the whole day, and learn new skills in the kitchen so they can then re-create the meals again at home. Classes include making their own pizzas, smartie biscuits and curries. Classes are split into age groups and start from $45 a session. See here for details.
