1. La La Land

La La Land is one of the most promising movies that will be released in December.

It immediately captured movie-lovers attention with the mention of both Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, who play the two main characters in the cast. The plot details the story of a jazz pianist falling in love with an aspiring actor in Los Angeles.

La La Land will be shown in Australian theatres from December 9.

2. Office Christmas Party

Calling all comedy fanatics! Office Christmas Party is the movie for you.

Jennifer Aniston, Olivia Munn, and Kate McKinnon will all play roles in this much anticipated holiday season film. The story revolves around an epic Christmas party which gets a little out of hand...

Office Christmas Party will be popping up in your local cinema on December 9.

3. Up for Love

This romantic comedy will leave you in a shambles of emotions.

So if you like shedding tears of happiness, sadness and (mainly) laughter, then Up for Love is a must see. It's all about the trivial matters in relationships & love - and in the main characters' case, the issue of the woman being much taller than the man.

The film will have French dialogue, but English subtitles will also be provided. You can watch Up for Love in selected cinemas from December 1.

4. Allied

Action, Drama, Romance, Brad Pitt... what more could you want?

Allied is set in the 1940s and introduces the story of an officer who encounters a resistance fighter during a mission. They fall in love, but their relationship is tested with the extremities of war.

Allied will be appearing on screens on Boxing Day, December 26.

5. Moana

Moana is more suited to children and young teens, but don't let that stop you if you want to go and watch it.

The animated Walt Disney film follows the character Moana as she embarks on a risky mission to finish her ancestor's unfinished quest.

Moana is rated PG and will be released on Boxing Day, December 26.
