Now that summer is upon us, the movies are a great cooling place to go to when the weather reaches those high 30's and 40's! Sit back, relax and enjoy the cool air and your pick of movies from this list.
[b] 1. [i]MARVEL MOVIE MARATHON[/i][/b]
The Astor Theatre, St Kilda
This will be on from 5th January to 7th January 2019, from 11 am. Tickets will cost just $40 for a one day pass or full ticket is $65.
This is not for everyone, but those who are fans will be delighted at this 48-hour marathon! Marvel has been making these movies for a decade now and has made about 20 since 2008.

[b]2. [i]EIGHTH GRADE[/i][/b] will be released on 3rd January.
Kayla Day makes her way through the last week of a dreadful eighth-grade year. She has issues such as feelings of isolation, anxiety, and invisibility. This is a comedy starring Elsie Fisher, Josh Hamilton, Emily Robinson, and Missy Yager.
[b]3. [i]HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON: THE HIDDEN WORLD[/i][/b]
This will be an exciting movie and will also be available in 3-D, and it will be released on 3rd January.
A female Night Fury turns Hiccup and his dragon Toothless's lives upside down in this Cressida Cowell's novel. Hiccup and Toothless will finally discover their true destinies. Their relationship will be tested as never before. It has many stars including Jay Baruchel, Craig Ferguson, Gerard Butler, and America Ferrera.
[b]4. [i]BRIMSTONE & GLORY[/i][/b]
This is actually a documentary and it looks extremely interesting. It is about the ritual, the danger and the beauty of fireworks of an annual Mexican city's pyrotechnic festival. This is an award-winning movie and the town of Tultepec has more than two-thirds of its residents manufacturing fireworks. The fireworks are handmade and the festival attracts many thousands of visitors. The movie is made using a drone which flies above these fireworks.
It will be released on 5th January and is in Spanish with English subtitles.
[b]5. [i]PIERCING[/i][/b]
This is based on the novel of the same name and is a psychological thriller about dark and violent desires. Reed seems to be an ordinary husband and father, but he has an uncontrollable urge to kill. On a business trip, he plans the murder of a sex worker and you will need to see this movie to find out what happens!
It will be released on 10th January and stars Mia Wasikowska, Christopher Abbott, and Laia Costa.
[b]6. [i]STORM BOY[/i][/b]
This is a new release and it is a family drama based on the children's book about an Australian boy who raises three orphaned pelicans. Although it is suitable for children, it is also a wonderful, and touching movie for adults.
It will be released on 17th January and stars Geoffrey Rush, Jai Courtney, Erik Thomson, Morgana Davies, Finn Little, and Simone Annan.
[b]7. [i]GLASS[/i][/b]
M. Night Shyamalan brings together the narratives of [i]Split[/i] and [i]Unbreakable[/i]. Following the conclusion of [i] Split, Glass[/i] finds David Dunn pursuing Kevin Wendell Crumb's superhuman figure of The Beast.
This will be released on 17th January and is a thriller starring Bruce Willis, James McAvoy, Samuel L. Jackson, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Sarah Paulson.
[b]8. [i]THE FRONT RUNNER[/i][/b]
This political movie is about American Senator Gary Hart, who in the middle of a 1988 presidential campaign, is derailed by scandal. There are allegations of an extramarital affair which turn up in the media, forcing the candidate to address a scandal that threatens to ruin his campaign and personal life.
It will be released on 24th January, is a true story, and stars Hugh Jackman, Vera Farmiga, J.K. Simmons, Sara Paxton, Ari Graynor, Kaitlyn Dever, and Mike Judge.
[b]9. [i]THE MULE[/i][/b]
This is about an elderly war veteran, Earl Stone, who smuggles cocaine through Michigan for a Mexican drug cartel. He is facing bankruptcy when he is offered a job requiring him to drive. Earl does not realise what this assignment is really about - being a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. This unusual new drug mule has also been spotted by a DEA agent Colin Bates.
This will be released on 24th January and stars Clint Eastwood, Bradley Cooper and Laurence Fishburne.
[b]10. [i]BEN IS BACK[/i][/b]
This is a drama about Ben, a 19-year-old who in recovery, returns to his family's urban home on Christmas Eve. Ben's mum is happy to see him but also suspicious of her son remaining clean. During a 24 hour period, the huge love for her son is tested as she battles to keep him safe.
This will be released on 31st January and stars Julia Roberts, Lucas Hedges, Kathryn Newton, Courtney B. Vance, and Alexandra Park.
