Five ideas to get the ball rolling
Mother's Day is on its way - have you thought about how you will spoil her on Sunday, 10th May? Every mum is different - she may prefer a facial at a fancy day spa, a family dinner at home (that she doesn't have to cook!) or maybe she would like to spend the day touring the Hunter Valley wineries? There are endless ideas on where to go, however, if you are looking for a Mother's Day event around the Newcastle and Maitland region, then keep reading to find your perfect event. Book in early though - spaces fill up fast!

1/ Honeysuckle Hotel on the Newcastle Foreshore will be hosting an All-You-Can-Eat Mother's Day Buffet Breakfast, with a complimentary beverage included for everyone. There will be two sittings at 8:30am and 10am, with the buffet closing at 11am. Please note - if your booking is for 4 or less people, you may be sharing a table. Tickets cost $36.75 adults, $16.35 kids and children aged 0 - 5 are free. See here for details.
2/ Wests Club at New Lambton will be having a Signature Mother's Day Event in their Starlight Room, starting from noon. There will be a glass of sparkling on arrival, a 3 course buffet lunch, tea/ coffee and live music. Tickets cost $45 adult and $22 child (5 - 12 years). See here for details. 3/ The Newcastle Food and Flower Market in Sandgate will be having a Mother's Day High Tea, with decadent house-made sweets, a flower for mum and a Guava and Mint Mocktail topped with local edible flowers, at a cost of $59 per person. There will be two sittings at 10am - 12pm and 1pm - 3pm. See here for details.
4/ Lizotte's Restaurant in Lambton will be having a Mother's Day Lunch & Show with singer Wendy Matthews. Wendy and her talented band will be performing timeless smash hits from her extensive catalogue such as Token Angels, Let's Kiss (Like Angels Do), The Day You Went Away, Friday's Child and Woman's Gotta Have It. The show and lunch will cost $92, which includes a main course meal and show. Alternatively, you can pay $50 just for the show. See here for details.

5/ The Mother's Day Classic is a nation-wide charity run which raises funds for Breast Cancer Research. The event will be held at Maitland for the first time, with a 5 kilometre walk. The course will be held at Walka Recreation & Wildlife Reserve (Walka Water Works) at Oakhampton Heights. The course is flat, with some small rises and is suitable for walkers, runners and parents with prams. No dogs are permitted at the venue. Spend Mother's Day raising money for this worthy cause! Have you found the perfect Mother's Day event for your mum? If not, why not take her to a new cafe, organise a family picnic at Blackbutt Reserve, go for a day trip to Nelson Bay or shout her to a Gold Class movie at the cinema.
