1/ The Tavern at Bannister's is a family friendly pub in the newly-opened Bannisters resort complex at Soldiers Point. The $15 million dollar luxury property only opened in September 2018 and its main drawcard, apart from the view and superior facilities, is the new seafood restaurant by UK celebrity chef Rick Stein. Although his restaurant is a highlight, The Tavern is a more casual area to dine, with a large beer garden, a separate sporting and gaming section and TAB. This Melbourne Cup Day, The Tavern will be having the race on the big screen, best-dressed competitions, champagne on the green, betting and more. There will be no cover charge and doors open from 12pm. See here for details.
2/ Nelson Bay Golf Club will be hosting a golf, lunch and Melbourne Cup event, for $50 for members and $65 for visitors - or you can just book in for the lunch for $35. The 2 course lunch will include a glass of sparkling wine, prizes and sweeps and of course, watching the race that stops the nation on the big screen! See here for details.
