The city of Melbourne is a dazzlingly beautiful place, especially if you know where to go. With gorgeous views, lovely gardens, great shopping, and even something for the artists of the world- Melbourne has something for everyone.
Having lived here all my life, no place is more familiar to me and so here are some of, in my opinion, the best places to visit in this wonderful city.
The Alexandra Gardens sit opposite the Arts Centre on St.Kilda Rd, and what a sight they are. Lush, green grass, tall, leafy trees, and an occasional flowerbed bursting with colour; thinking of reasons not to visit this glorious garden is the only stressful aspect of it. Perfect for a picnic spot or simply a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this garden offers something for everyone.
Retro Star is another place to look out for. Especially for the people who enjoy a good old fashioned outfit or blast from the past, Retro Star is the place to pick up clothes/shoes/accessories from past generations, and in great condition.
Stocked full of 80s prom dresses, lots of band tees, and an incredible selection of vintage shoes, it's a vintage Queen (or King)'s heaven!
If you're willing to venture into the outer suburbs and have a passion for art or just lovely old buildings, Montsalvat is the place for you. Perfect for artistic endeavours, functions in their restaurant, or even weddings- Montsalvat is a place to be admired and inspired by. Sweeping hills of green grass, an impressive lake that draws ducks and wild birds, and impressive mudbrick buildings that date back to 1935, Montsalvat is a lovely place for a picnic or just a place to stroll through and admire at one's own pace. Entry cost isn't too much either:
