It's no secret that I love exploring op shops . The bargains to be had in there are simply exciting to find. There's nothing more satisfying than picking out a shirt, that you know is worth about $40 (or more) in mint condition, for a fraction of the price. Even if you are like me, convinced you don't need any more clothes, it still is tempting. Here are three fabulous op shops in Maroochydore.

What impressed me about the Bloomhill op shop was the large range of starched doilies on display just like Nanna used to own. Pretty decent prices too starting from $4.50 for a simple doil,y but there were elaborate table runners and larger pieces with intricate designs.

The Salvation Army (5443 5998) Oh la la, this op shop was massive and had a separate 2 room section dedicated to antiques. Lovely!

You need to have some serious time up your sleeve when you step inside the Salvo's. Lose yourself among the rows and rows of crockery, clothes, old records, bric-à-brac, furniture, dresses etc. They even had an old singer sewing machine that you just rarely see nowadays.

I simply couldn't fit that huge shop into one photo so you will have to take my word for it, this shop is definitely worth a visit. I really didn't need any "more" clothes and vowed to be strong, remembering that 80% of your clothes you wear 20% of the time which all seemed sound solid advice until I spotted the jeans rack. I bought 2 pairs (that I'm sure are brand new) for $5 each and a couple of tops for $4.00 in immaculate condition. I don't have that much luck finding clothes in 10 minutes in retail outlets. That's why I love op shops, so many diverse clothes under the one roof.

Gone are the days when Op Shops were shoddy and smelled bad. These days they are big business and the staff are dedicated to renewing old clothes and furniture by washing them, giving a new sparkling lease of life. This Neighbourhood op shop had its own book section and a decent range of furniture too.

So if your driving along Aerodrome Road, keep an eye out for these shops. The Bloomhill Op Shop is located just around the corner, so you can park and walk across to First Ave. Its phone number is 5475 4477. Enjoy!
