Welcome to the Secret List. A list of fun things to do with your kids in Perth each month. There is something for every family, no matter how old your kids are, where you live, and how much you have to spend.

Why is it a secret? Because if you kids find out about all the things on this list: they will beg you to do everything on it.

This month we can breathe a sigh of relief as school goes back but there is still plenty to do with kids of all ages this month.



Chinese New Year for Kids
If you are looking for all the best family-friendly Chinese New Year events then you will need to check out this link .
This amazing ten-day festival includes a range of kid-friendly activities including special martial arts workshops, Lion Dancing, programs at the WA Discovery Centre, plenty of free kids activities at the Fair and even a chance to feed the lions.

When: January 27th to February 5th
Where: events in Northbridge, Elizabeth Quay and other hubs across Perth

Splash City
Open only for a few more days, Splash City is the biggest pop-up inflatable water park ever seen in Perth. With under 4s free, a dedicated Dinosaur Water park for the kids, Toddlerzone plus shaded trampolines and plenty of other exciting options, this is a must-visit these school holidays. Toddlerfest at Scitech
Designed exclusively for kids ages 2 to 5 years, Toddlerfest at Scitech is a special fortnight dedicated to our smallest learners. With extra special events and exhibitions designed especially for little ones, they will enjoy an exclusive wonderland (and learn lots too).

When: February 4th to 19th

Free Flicks for Kids
There is plenty of fun to be had in Northbridge this month, starting with the free weekly sessions of Flicks for Kids in Northbridge. Bring a blanket and grab a beanbag. It's not a school night, but the movies still start at the reasonable time of 5.30pm.

Jungle Gym in Karrinyup
School holidays may be over but the Centre Court at Karrinyup Shopping Centre will continue to be a giant jungle gym for a few more weeks. Kids are invited to explore the adventurous jungle with climbing ropes and tunnels and more.

When: every day until February 12th from 10am to 4pm

Biggest Bestest Treasure Hunt Ever
Presented by The Children's Museum of WA and part of the Fringe Festival, this is a brilliant event that encourages families to dress up and work together to solve physical and mental challenges in the biggest treasure hunt ever.

The kids are meant to be in charge and wearing their favourite explorer or pirate outfit, the treasure hunt will finish with a dance party and awards ceremony.

When: Saturday 4th February, 2pm and 4pm (75 minute sessions)

Superheroes for Kids
With great power come great silliness – or so says Andrew Roper, presenter of this extra awesome Fringe show for kids. This is for all fans of superheroes and kids are encouraged to dress up as their favourite. Capes are welcome, so is underwear worn on the ourside of clothes! There will be games, quizzes, songs and lots of nonsense.

When: Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th February, 3.30pm

Amazing Valley Chase
The Amazing Valley Chase is a fun and free adventure families can experience all year round, during school holidays and during term. Kids will need an adult driver who will start their adventure at the Swan Valley Visitor Centre (collect your map and clues) then it's in the car and tootle around the Swan Valley to solve clues to find the answer a secret riddle, and be awarded with a special certificate.

Pirates!! – Me Hearties
Join Captain Boots and Redbeard in an adventure like no other. Part of the Fringe Festival, kids (and enthusiastic parents) are encouraged to come dressed as a pirate which will make it all the better to help the scallywags escape. Parents welcome to wander along behind as the kids run riot ahead.

When: Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th February

Lion Dancing at Stirling Farmers Market
Take the kids when you do your weekly food shop at the Stirling Farmers Market for a special Chinese New Year celebration. There will be the Chung Wah Chinese Orchestra playing at 9.00am and 10.00am and the special Lion Dance at 9.30am.

When: Sunday 5th February from 7.3am-11.30am

Fringeworld Mermaids
These stunning mermaids are special guests of Fringe World and will delight young and old as they take their nightly swim in their special tank.

When: Every night until 19th February 2017

Father and Daughter Valentine's Ball
Dads have the special opportunity to treat their little girl like a princess at this Valentine's Ball. For girls aged between 6 and 16 years and their fathers or grandfathers, the night includes a finger buffet, dancing and competitions as well as a special gift for dads to give their daughters at the end of the night.

When: Friday 10th February, from 7pm to 9.30pm
Where: Victoria Hall, 179 High Street, Fremantle

Uke-A-Loony
Billed as a show about a stupid problem with stupid solutions, Uke-a-Loony is a free and family friendly show that will teach kids that it is okay to be a little weird. Part of the Fringe Festival.

When: Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th February, from 4pm on Saturdays and 3pm on Sundays (50 minute shows)
Where: Paper Mountain, Lake Street, Northbridge.

Mermaid Mondays at AQWA
Mermaids Monday will be taking place at AQWA every Monday between December and April, with Amelia and Jessica Pearl, performing their special underwater shows. Kids are also welcome to pose for photos with the mermaids prior to each show.

When: every Monday, shows at 11am and 1pm, meet and greets at 10.30am and 12.30pm

**Telethon Community Cinemas Under the Stars
**Enjoy family-friendly movies under the stars with the Community Cinemas: films include Moana, Red Dog, Trolls, Rogue One, Sing, Middle School and Gremlins. Part proceeds go to Telethon and other kids charities and you can find them in three great locations across Perth.

When: season ends Saturday 11th March
Where: outdoor cinemas at Burswood, Murdoch and Bassendean

Kiddo Kaos
British improv comedy team Racing Minds bring a lot of craziness and daft jokes to Perth as part of Fringe with this award-winning show for kids (Runner up: Best Children's Event Fringe World 2016). Expect a riot of improv games, hilarious characters, jokes, mayhem and music.

When: Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th of February, from 4.30pm to 5.30pm

Cottesloe Outdoor Film Festival
Book now for the two family-friendly movies that are screening as part of the Cottesloe Outdoor Film Festival under the pines of the Civic Centre. Paper Planes (rated G) and Hunt for the Wilderpeople (rated PG) will be screening in February. There will be door prizes, live music, a bar and food available for purchase. Bring a chair, beanbag or rug. Tickets also available at the door.

When: Saturday 11th February and Friday 24th February, gates open 5.30pm, movie starts 7.30pm

Fun Fair at Hillarys Boat Harbour
Open every weekend from February to April, the Hillarys Fun Fair has been operating for years, providing classic rides and entertainment for all ages. Entry is free and rides start at $6. Rides include merry-go-rounds, trampolines, the Super Nova as well as clowns, the teacup ride and bungees.

When: open daily during school holidays, then on weekends until April

Inflatable Water Fun Park
February is traditionally the hottest month of the year - if you're feeling the heat why not head to the family-friendly Aqua Mania FunnAs inflatable park in Rockingham. This is a full inflatable obstacle course in the ocean off the Rockingham foreshore. Suitable for competent swimmers aged 6 and older (adult supervision necessary) activities include high jumps into the ocean, ropes, trampolines, balance beams, climbing beams, spinners and slides. Life guards are on duty and opening hours are weather dependent. Check out a full review here.

Da Vinci Machines
Open all month and bringing the amazing innovations of Leonardo da Vinci to life, this exhibit at the Fremantle Maritime Museum recreates the life and inventions of the mastermind who lived more than 500 years ago. Little inventors, artists and creators will enjoy this special exhibition where they can see and test his amazing machines and view his incredible artworks.

When: Until 28th February 2017, from 9.30am to 5pm daily

Camp Rock Stage Show
Based on the Disney films Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, starring the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato, kids will love this high-energy musical adaption. This stage show will be shown at two different locations with both matinee and evening shows. Read the full reviews here.

Wet and Wild at Perth Zoo
During every weekend in February (and March) kids will be thrilled to get wet on the pop-up water slide at Perth Zoo. Located on the Main Lawn near the playground, and suitable for all ages, it will have a double slide for racing fun. For the tiny ones there will be a small paddling pool, or if you prefer games and crafts the Wild Zone will also be open on the main lawn (gold coin donation entry). Crafts include animal masks, penguin bowling and water play.

Also new at the zoo is Zoo HQ, in the old bird aviary. Kids can dress up as zoo-keepers and get to experience what is involved in working at the zoo.

Fiesta Concert
This free, family-friendly concert is going to be a big evening out with Australian singer-songwriter Emma Louise headlining the show plus a family activity area, food village and fireworks display.

Family Day at the Writers Festival
If your kid is a bookworm or has aspirations to draw comics then take them along to family day at the Perth Writers Festival. With storytelling, workshops art and performances kids of all ages will find someone (or something) to be inspired by. With the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter looming, everyone is welcome to come dressed as their favourite character and take part in some of the awesome Harry Potter themed events during the day. Kids can have their photo taken in a special feathered mural, hang out in the Chill-Out Zone, make their own book and more fun activities.

Salty Fest - Launch of the Coogee Maritime Dive Trail
Kids - bring your snorkelling gear and get under the waves for the opening of the underwater dive and land-based trail in Coogee. Or just hang out on the beach with a host of free activities including live music, market stalls, food stalls, monsterball soccer, face painting and live performers.
