Dr Seuss's The Cat In The Hat

A purr-fect show for the kids!

Dr Seuss's The Cat In The Hat

Originally produced by The National Theatre of Great Britain, this production of Dr. Seuss's, The Cat In The Hat stars an all Australian Cast and promises to delight Melbourne audiences from Thursday 2 to Thursday 9 January 2014.

Based on the book of the same title, this all-time favourite has been transformed into a witty play guaranteed to be enthralling for the young and the young at heart. Watch with amusement as the Cat attempts to bust his boredom one rainy afternoon by introducing his new friends to all kinds of craziness. Your wide-eyed children will be captivated by the Cat's acrobatic tricks around the house creating utter chaos.

With sidesplitting stories and riotous rhymes, you will love this production of The Cat In The Hat. So get ready to be transported into a magical world you've always imagined.

The Illusionists

The impossible becomes possible.

the illusionists

Guaranteed to be intriguing, mesmerising, jaw-dropping and spellbinding, The Illusionists is coming to Melbourne from Thursday 16 to Wednesday 22 January in 2014 bringing you extraordinary spectacles of grand illusion, levitation, mind-reading, disappearance and underwater escapes. Having performed sold out shows in Asia, South America and Europe, it's no wonder they have won the hearts of so many fans around the world.

Seven internationally well-known illusionists will deliver a show filled with the most mind-boggling and unbelievable acts featuring professional, contemporary sets, a steam punk dance troupe in addition to a live performance by Z, an LA-based band.

Tickets range between $49 and $119, which may be a little more expensive, but they do offer discounted prices for families for Matinee performances. To redeem a family discount, a minimum of four tickets must be purchased containing one adult. Of course, you can always get a group of six or more together and take advantage of their group prices.

For times, dates, venue and booking information, please visit the Arts Centre Melbourne website.

Horrible Histories

Full of funny, foul, fascinating facts.

horrible histories

Another type of thrilling show at the Arts Centre Melbourne, is Horrible Histories from Thursday 16 to Wednesday 22 January 2014

This show will transport you back in time as historical figures and events appear and happen right before your eyes. When history is presented live on stage with actors and revolutionary 3D special effects, it is not only educational, but also totally and utterly awesome.

Watch as the awful Egyptians are brought to life including fascinating pharaohs, mean mummies, and Ramesses the Great; discover the powerful pyramids; learn about the foul facts of death and decay; and go through the gates of the Afterlife and see what's there.

This is an excellent experience for all children as it is entertaining, captivating and wholly accessible. I'm pretty sure learning about history doesn't get better than this. Now, if only my high school history lessons were like this, I may not have fallen asleep so many times.

Tickets range between $49 and $69. However, if you have a group of 10 or more, you can get A-Reserve tickets for just $49 (normally $59). For times, dates, venue and booking information, please visit the Arts Centre Melbourne website.

Dinosaur Zoo

dinosaur zoo

Like Horrible Histories, Dinosaur Zoo is offering you to jump on board and go back in time to when dinosaurs roamed the earth from Tuesday 7 to Sunday 19 January 2014. But, don't worry, it won't be terrifying and the dinosaurs won't try and chase you down like in Jurassic Park.

Youngsters will meet and greet Erth's dinosaur family including the carnivorous Australovenator found in Australia, the massive long-necked Titanosaur and Leaellynasauras. Watch as your wide-eyed children become awestruck with these dinosaurs.

This is a fantastic interactive theatrical experience where little dinosaur lovers learn through these monster dinosaur puppets. Are you brave enough to feed the dinosaurs?
