Following on from the top kid friendly June activities in Sydney, the second and the second last month of winter shows promise.
First off the Bondi Winter Magic festival continues to shine. This is an annual event. An outdoor day and night paradise with markets, art displays and some cafes and restaurants to buy some quality nosh that the family will enjoy. The main attraction is (of course) Bondi Beach. For those adventurous families, especially if your child/children love bushwalking, then they will love the Bondi history coastal walks. Further information is available on the Bondi Winter Magic website, and organisers say that registrations for some of these activities, including this walk are essential.
Otherwise some new activities are on. These are some of the top picks. They are presented to you in date order, and not in order of preference.
Held on the first Saturday of July, and will continue to be held every first Saturday of the month until March/April 2014. A chance to enjoy a true country market, that has been operating from time to time since 1982. Held at Cobbity Primary School, and the market supports charities. The traditional market stalls are there with gourmet food, and parking for 1000 cars at the back of the school grounds. However, for the kids these markets have an animal farm and face paints are also available. Due to the abundance of stalls and parking available, with a couple of top kid friendly activities; this needs explanation as to why this activity has made the list, all in the name for a good cause. 2. Bankstown Bites Food Festival
For another piece of local flavour, pun intended, the Bankstown Bites Food Festival is promising some quality activities for the kids in addition to food stalls. Dance, live music and comedy will feature, as well as cooking demonstrations for adults and kids alike. Held on Saturday the 6th of July 2013.
3. 2013 Australian Gymnastics Championships
If the gymnastics at the London Olympic Games last year resonated with you and your family, then this event might make way for a great family friendly outing. Otherwise, there are a fair few kid friendly activities that can be enjoyed at Sydney's Olympic Park. Held at the Sydney Olympic Park sports centre, this is an event where Australia's best 1200 gymnasts compete. A combination of artistic and rhythmic gymnasts take to the stage, as well as those who can ace the trampoline beyond jumping up and down on it. Held from the 7th to the 18th of July. Further information can be found by clicking here.
4. Bondi the Beautiful Fair
Bondi is in the spotlight again. This is an extension of their Winter Magic Festival, and the theme is catered towards the environment. Interactive talks on wildlife and the environment (like you're at the zoo) and face paintings are also available for the kids. Free live music is also enjoyed, as well as art installations. Held on Sunday the 7th of July.
There you have it, a glimpse of the top activities in Sydney to keep the kids entertained, and all in all can easily be done on a budget. Stay tuned, and watch this space for August real soon.
