If you want your child to grow up drinking responsibly, treat them to some "adult" drinks. They can get the same taste, just minus the booze, without even knowing.

The wallet is not going to break either!

Here is my list:

  • Mocktails

  • Search online for a zillion different recipes. My favorite is Virgin Whiskey. Such a drink calls for one part root beer and one part Mountain Dew. Personally, I use diet Mountain Dew.

  • Iced Coffee

  • Personally, I like Iced Mochas. I use one part coffee mixed with one part Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate and lots of iced cubes.

  • Iced Tea

  • Instead of boiling water with tea bags on a stovetop, I microwave 5 tea bags in a microwavable container filled with water for 5 minutes. Then, I let set for a while. I remove the tea bags and pour into a pitcher. Refrigerate to your liking. I like my iced tea cooled overnight.

  • Lemonade

  • A good lemonade drink is an Arnold Palmer! I find the drink to be delicious! All the drink requires is one part lemonade mixed with one part iced tea! Use a lot of iced cubes!

  • Grape Juice or Sparkling Grape Juice

  • Every Christmas, I give my landlord a bottle of Sparkling Grape Juice. He's not a kid either!

  • Sparkling Water or Seltzer

  • My favorite water is seltzer. I like the fizzy aspect of the water. I like to make New York Egg Creams, which call for milk and chocolate syrup, mixed with seltzer.

Finally, make the kids feel special! They just might thank you one day.
