Sunday 12th of May is sneaking up quickly, so how about giving some thought towards treating our mothers to a 'nice surprise'. This is the one day of the year that our Mum's really deserve some special attention. So, I have been thinking about it myself and and have come up with these ideas.

Brisbane River Cruise
Book and take Mum out for breakfast, lunch or dinner on one of these glorious cruises. What a nice relaxing way to spend part of the day with Mum. She will love it and will feel like a 'Queen' onboard one of these Kookaburra River Queens. Board for the breakfast cruise at 8am, lunch cruise at 12pm or dinner cruise at 7pm. Info on booking one of these cruises here.

If you can't all get together to board the boat how about one of these options;

Spoiling Mum at her place for lunch or dinner
Advise Mum to sit down and put her feet up at the pre-arranged lunch or dinner time, while the family members arrive with the catering. Whether the family pitches in to create parts of a fabulous meal or you make a plan to order and bring in some gourmet offerings (with special cakes and pastries from a boutique caterer like Vanilla Pod) (ordering this way may need to be arranged on Saturday), you decide.
Deli platters can also be arranged from supermarkets and information on selections from Woolworths is available here. Remember though that you should make it your responsibility to do the dishes and clean up afterwards, as this is Mum's day and it's all about her.

Pick Mum up and take her to a nearby park to spoil her.
Same as above, you get to supply all the catering and she gets to enjoy. Probably a nice breakfast or get somewhere 'early' for lunch, as this outdoor idea is usually popular and busy. Sandgate area is a super spot to meet.

The Restaurant Option
With most restaurants usually designing special meal options for mothers day - this is always another option. How about still providing full service to Mum for her day and picking her up and dropping her off. These small arrangements go a long way. If you like the idea of dining near the water, some nice spots include Aqua linea at Teneriffe on the river. (winner of the 2011 Savor Australia Catering Awards), Eves on the River, also at Tenneriffe, Bretts Wharf at Hamilton, Full Moon Hotel at Shorncliffe and Morgans Seafood Restaurant at Scarborough.

The Pamper Option
If you know Mum will enjoy something like this, well, this is the time to gift her with a treatment. (vouchers can be purchased) Pampering at a Day Spa with a nice relaxing massage or facial or 'add on treatments' is enjoyed by all woman so you can't go wrong with this. Brisbane Holistic Health Centre is at New Farm and is open Saturdays and Sundays. Another popular place, Northside of Brisbane is the Atrium Natural Health and Beauty Spa at Carseldine. Check out some places that are close to Mum for the best option.
Whatever you decide to do, to make Mum feel special, she will appreciate your thoughts and efforts.

Why? Time to think about treating Mum for Mothers Day
Your Comment
Lovely ideas, I like how you've made suggestions to pick mum up and you've provided helpful and considerate tips such as make extra effort to clean up, choose a nearby pamper place, etc. I'm sure these things make all the difference. Great that you've also included options for a range of budgets.
