Nowadays, these 'simple' deep fried golden chips are holding the limelight. We are witnessing the humble spuds getting the fancy treatments: shoestring, beer battered, hand-cut, wedges, twice deep-fried, duck-fat, thick-cuts, hot crinkles, truffle flavoured, cheesy fries, secret seasonings ... the list is getting endless.
I am a self-confessed potato-addict and here is my list of where you can find some unique, exceptional chips.
If you like truffle, you can't miss Meat District & Co's truffle-flavoured fries! They are seasoned with truffle salt, truffle parmesan and truffle aioli! Hope that does not sounds too intense for you. These truffle chips taste exponentially good when washed down with a Meat District & Co's Nutella milkshake. Bring me more!

2. Sails on Lavender Bay Restaurant
Fries, smoked paprika salt, sherry vinegar $12.00
Sails' special seasoned fries are moreishly addictive with smoked paprika salt and sherry vinegar. Mecca-style fires just got a gourmet make-over. Salty, super-crunchy shoe-string fries are exactly what we needed!

3. Salt Meats Cheese Mosman
Italian Fries $8.5 (Basil pesto drizzle & parmesan, aioli
These Italian-inspired seasoned fries are best eaten with a nice glass of wine. It is quite an awesome potato dish with the beautiful basil pesto drizzle and creamy aioli, seasoned with heaps of parmesan cheese. Forget about counting the calories and cholesterol when this is in front of you.
Kefi Greek Tavern's famous Yia Yia's chips are well-seasoned with salt, pepper, dried oregano, topped with crumbled feta and an oozing fried egg. How could you resist? The taste, texture and flavour are dangerously addictive. Crunch at your own risk.

6. Moo Gourmet Burger
Cheesy Bacon Chips ($9.50)
The chips at Moo Gourmet Burger truly stole my heart. These chunky home-style chips are served in an impressive basket cone topped with melted Egmont cheese and free range bacon pieces. They are so delicious that the burgers dimmed next to them.
Schnitz's diamond-cut chips are amazing and deserve a special mention. Schnitz use Tasmanian Russet potatoes for their award-winning chips. These chips are soaked in beer batter, cooked in cholesterol-free vegetable oil and lightly sprinkled with a secret seasoning. It has it all for me: a crunchy exterior, fluffy moreish filling and just the just amount of seasonings.
Everything is overpriced at InterContinental Hotel but at least they serve really good chips! Look past the posh historical surrounding and just order a basket of sea-salt fries. They are incredibly crunchy and the accompanying house aioli is thick, creamy and moreish.

9. Encasa Spanish Restaurante
Potato Bravas $11.50
Not quite your typical hot fries, but these would the Spanish's equivalent. Encasa's classic deep fried crispy potato cubes are topped with creamy garlic mayonnaise and spicy tomato salsa. Sangria and potato bravas are the perfect pairing, don't you think?

10. 3 Weeds Restaurant
Duck fat roasted kipfler potatoes $10.00
Duck-fat roasted potato are always delicious and at 3 Weeds Restaurant, they roasted these baby Kipfler potato to perfection. Chunks of potato are roasted in duck fat and herbs. They taste magnificent and so addictive. I practically finish this side dish all by myself!
