November is one of the busiest months in the annual calendar, with plenty of festivals, performances, ceremonies, exhibitions, markets, music events, rowing regattas and even a plant swap! We've got you covered this month with something you and your family can enjoy for free in the capital of Western Australia .

[SECTION]1 to 4 Nov – Kaleidoscope 2018 [/SECTION]



A breath-taking exhibit of projections, art, lighting performances and displays will showcase the Joondalup landscape in a different light. Visitors can expect outstanding cultural experiences as well as plenty of family activities and delicious food. Start making your way down from 5pm to indulge in a range of delicacies from the food trucks onsite and watch the sun go down before the City of Joondalup is transformed to a lighting spectacle. Celebrating the things that make up the beautiful suburb of Scarborough, the Scarborough Sunset Markets brings together locals, visitors and families alike to explore and discover the area. This iconic beachside event is organised by the Scarborough Beach Association. With market stalls, live music, entertainment, pop-up stores, cafes, bars and a mesmerising view of the gorgeous beach and picturesque sunset, you and your family can enjoy creative and vibrant activities that inspire an active local community lifestyle. Head over to Fremantle for these two free events. Both Kraken and Karla-k Koorling provide a taste of the Blazing Swan Festival with entertainment and food. Kraken is expressed through a blaze on Bather's Beach while Karla-k Koorling brings locals together with stories of the community shared around lit fires. Featuring all sorts of art exhibitions for kids, teens and adults, the Darlington Arts Festival is one of the Hill's most popular annual events. Art workshops, craft and cottage industry market stalls and entertainment takes the main stage in a lively and dynamic atmosphere. [SECTION]10 Nov – Rowing WA Night Sprints Regatta [/SECTION]



This event showcases the sport of rowing and displays the exhilarating and exciting competition in regattas. They have rowers on eight boats racing over distances of 192 metres which is a tenth of their usual distance of two kilometres. You can expect an energetic race with rowers going all out to place first. Entry is free and the course can be viewed from anywhere along the quay. Get a great view of the finish line from above on the pedestrian bridge, or watch from the start from The Reveley, Gusto Gelato or Spanda. Visit the website for more information.

[SECTION]11 Nov – Botanic Garden Treasures and Remembrance Day Kings Park[/SECTION]



Remembrance Day will be conducted in the State War Memorial precinct in Kings Park and Botanic Garden. This day marks the anniversary of the end of World War I (1914-1918). Every year, Australians observe a minute's silence in honour of those who served and sacrificed, and those who continue to do so. You can also enjoy free guided walks led by park volunteer guides which depart daily from outside Aspects of Kings Park. Wander through the Botanic Garden to see native species of flora and a diverse range of plants from the coasts to the deserts and the northern and southern forests. No reservations are required. [SECTION]17 Nov – Stackwood Plant Swap [/SECTION]



Hosted by Anna Macoboy, plant designer and educator from Wilding, the Stackwood Plant Swap is ideal for people who are passionate about plants and are looking for a new addition to their home. Swaps go without cost and run based upon honesty. Simply bring along a seedling or plant (indoor varieties preferably). There is no limit to how many you can bring, as long as you can carry them. Please note that the plants must be healthy, bug and disease free. If you're not sure, leave them at home. Visit the website for more details.

Located in the coastal suburb of Perth, the Mindarie Festival is a free, family-friendly event which celebrates the local community. With performers, kids' activities, carnival rides, live bands, DJ's and both food and market stalls, this is simply a festival for the whole family to enjoy! [SECTION]24 Nov – Music Under the Stars [/SECTION]



Enjoy an early Christmas musical performance in front of the Chancellery Building. The Perth Symphony Orchestra and ECU's brilliant and adept WAAPA students will perform a range of orchestral music with classic and contemporary Christmas hits. This is a free event however you will need to register yourself and your family. You are only able to register for 2 adults and 3 children. Note that children over the age of 2 require their own tickets. There will be food and coffee vendors on site but bring along your own alcoholic drinks as there will not be bar services at the event. Some items such as umbrellas, tables, tents, sunshades, wine spikes, glassware or any item that could be a possible weapon cannot be brought in. Head over to Fremantle and enjoy some of the best local and touring bands in the Freemantle Arts Centre's front garden. Local multi-instrumentalist Em Burrows and band Web Rumours return with a collection of new songs. Pack a rug and picnic to share with family or friends, or indulge in wood fired pizzas and drinks from the bar alongside an afternoon filled with experimental pop and vocals.
