INK REMIX: Contemporary art from mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong

Live Kirtan – Fridays, 6pm - 8pm
In the Mantra Room at 236 Montague Road, West End, the world's first exclusive Kirtan venue, experience the resonating rhythms of expressive music and transcendental chanting, creating an enchanting atmosphere for a special form of group meditation.
Japanese Festival – 11 February 3pm – 8.30pm
In
Kisaragi-Sai in the Roma St Parkland, the complex and varied elements of Japanese culture and society are presented through food, music, dance, bonsai (tree growing as an artform), Aikido "the way of harmonious spirit" martial arts, origami (paper folding), ikebana (flower arranging) and Kamishibai storytelling.

Sugar Spin: you, me, art and everything – Throughout February
To celebrate the Gallery of Modern Art's 10th Anniversary,
Sugar Spin features over 250 contemporary artworks exploring our links to the natural world. Challenge your perspective of light, colour and movement with exciting pieces, large and small, immersive and overwhelming.
The exhibition is on display at the

Grace Chang: Modern Songstress Film Series – Sunday 12, 19 February 10am – 11.45am
See the songstress of Hong Kong cinema, Grace Chang, in alluring films at the Sunnybank Performing Arts Centre. Hong Kong's unique status in Asia, mixing east and west, old and new, regional and urban, is captured in her evocative on-screen presence. On the 12th, you can see Grace starring in the 1959 feature

GLASS: art design architecture – Throughout February
If you're accident-prone near fragile objects or the risk of glass loudly smashing into infinite pieces terrifies you, GLASS may be the exhibition to cure your fears. In the
Art Museum of the Queensland University of Technology , award-winning architects and artists have created colourful glass displays exploring our use of the medium to shape our landscapes into modern cities with towering skyscrapers and intricate jewellery.
City Sounds – Throughout February
Australia's largest free music program presents rock, pop, jazz, electronica, blues, country and alternative tunes from local and touring artists. In South Bank each Saturday from 3pm – 8pm, performers include Candice Dianna, jazz from Tenille West and pop by Sophia Koop. In the Wintergarden on Queen St Mall on Thursdays and Fridays, acoustic pop by Andrew Redford, gypsy jazz from Cigány Weaver and lyrical folk by O' Little Sister feature. View the full program at the

Little Days Out – 2 February 9am - 1pm
In the Rainforest Green in South Bank, children can join a workshop to create their own sandy masterpiece, using layers of bright, coloured sand, preserved with lamination to protect a unique souvenir. Lost Cinema: Queensland Discoveries – 5 – 19 February, 10am
Before digital downloads and CGI, silent cinema, recorded on reels of film, was projected onto Queensland's cinema screens before the prints were destroyed by environmental damage, recycled or lost in storage. A keen film-buff has discovered four silent films from the 1910s and 1920s, thought lost but now restored and preserved for viewing by a new generation, accompanied by music streaming from a 1929 Wurlizer organ, played live in the cinema in the GOMA in Stanley Place. The films include Italian tales
The Redeeming Angel and
Prisoner of the Owls, the German
White Desert and the American feature

Rugbytots and Storytelling – 9 February 9am - 1pm
Children can build their confidence with rugby without the heavy tackling associated with the adult game as they safely kick, catch, run and score tries. Beside the sports field, our local libraries will host an interactive story time with books, rhymes and songs. Visit the

Handmade Market – 25 February
At the Old Redcliffe Fire Station on 395 Oxley Avenue, a curated selection of the loveliest handmade items in Brisbane are on show, available to view or buy if they become 'must-have' additions to your home. While jewellery, plants, scrapbooks, cushions, blankets, baskets, crocheted gifts and colourful picture frames are on show, local musicians strum guitars and sing peaceful tunes. Visit

Pop-up Art – 26 February
