Highlights of What's On in Adelaide in November
November is the time to take a deep breath and relax. Luxuriate in the warmth, be lazy, and enjoy yourself. Christmas is coming, and the muted Muzak murmurs of Christmas carols in the background will soon be permeating your retail experience at an increasingly strident volume.
The early warning signs are there: Christmas decorations are going up, and the Christmas pageant and carols are already planned. Fortunately one writer has compiled a
list of Christmas pageants in Adelaide so that you can find most of them easily.
Adelaide's Feast Festival has already kicked off with the biggest and most colourful Pride Parade yet, but there are plenty more fun things to do before it finishes on November 6. Drop by the Feast Hub in the city for a drink or to see an event, and don't miss the popular Picnic in the Park.
The
Semaphore Street Fair on November 27 is another iconic family favourite, with a multitude of market stalls, free live entertainment, fun for kids, and all the
excitement of the fair at Semaphore .
Lovers of fine food and wine will be found at the
Bonjour Adelaide French Market on November 18-19. Unley will be packed with people looking for that special gastronomic experience that the French do so very well. And this year there's a bonus - the French Market has partnered with the Etsy Made Local Adelaide market too.
There's still time to catch the last of the
free guided walks in the parklands in November, but book early to avoid disappointment.
What's On in Adelaide - Free Things to Do
With daylight saving comes the season of free outdoor cinema, and we've rounded up details of all the
free outdoor movies in Adelaide in one place. The best part is that most of these free things to do come with entertainment and activities for kids, plus a selection of food trucks or vendors to keep your tummy happy.
There are some new markets in Adelaide this month, with some under cover. The
Market on Flinders is a new market at a
familiar location and held every weekend - more competition for the
Market Shed on Holland . Another new market specialising in retro goods and antiques and collectables is the
Wayville Market , open on Sundays and public holiday Mondays next to the
Adelaide Showgrounds Farmers' Market .
The
Manoora Hall Twilight Market on November 4 is a chance to escape the city and see genuine country markets like you can
find at Strathalbyn too.
Find lots of affordable Christmas gifts, artisan goods, and handmade jewellery closer to home at the
Fullarton Christmas Craft Fair , the
Red Umbrella Market at Goodwood, and the
Lollipop Markets in Adelaide.
Later in November there's more retail therapy at the
Adelaide Health and Wellness Market on the 26th, and the
Organic Corner Store Twilight Markets the following day.
The event every child in Adelaide has been waiting for arrives on November 12, when Santa sweeps into town on his sleigh for the
Christmas Pageant . It's a whole morning of fun for kids that they won't want to miss, but children south of Adelaide must wait another week for the
City of Onkaparinga Christmas Pageant .
The National Trust are holding Adelaide's first
Festival of Marmalade on November 20 at Beaumont House. With Humphrey B Bear on hand there will be plenty of activities for kids, while the rest of us tuck into our favourite breakfast spread, browse market stalls, and enjoy the live entertainment.
Residents north of Adelaide don't despair - the
Playford Alive community fun day happens the same weekend if the Festival of Marmalade is too far away.
Not Free, but Fun Things to Do
Maker Faire Adelaide is back this year - even bigger and better than before. Don't miss this fabulous expo of gadgets and goodies on November 6 at the former
Mitsubishi Tonsley , now a high tech hub.
Go
fishing to fight cancer , head to Gumeracha for a
Show and Shine , or see the
Whole Life Expo - just some of the fun things to do in Adelaide this month.
Adelaide Showgrounds will be a riot of colour and fantasy for
Supanova Adelaide , but if you prefer more traditional costumes the National Trust's
Dressmaker Costume Exhibition at Ayers House Museum could be your thing.
Other Exciting Things to See and Do in Adelaide
We've got new food and wine reviews for
Sunny's Shop specialising in Asian street food, get a sneak peek at
Pera Kahve Cafe selling authentic Turkish food at Glenelg, experience food with a Polish twist at
Borsch Cafe in the city, or let Graham guide you to the
best cuisine in Prospect .
After all the indulgent dining, browse a range of
walks for every occasion to help your waistline. One of the fun things to do in Adelaide is to just
get away from everything - if you do, you could try one of the
Yangie Bay walks .
If you need an excuse to escape the city to the beautiful
Limestone Coast attractions , there is a new exhibition opening at the
Beachport Old Wool and Grain Store Museum . The exhibition tells the story of the railway line from Beachport to
Mount Gambier and how it helped both towns to prosper.
