I enjoy writing about Adelaide and its many attractions. If you think Adelaide is boring,
the problem is not with Adelaide.

I'm writing this at the end of November and feeling completely relaxed about Christmas. Although we've seen the Pageant, I haven't noticed too many other signs of the seasonal rush yet - clearly I haven't been to shops in Adelaide lately. It may also be a fringe benefit of a cataract I acquired lately, but I hope to lose that soon.
As I trawl to find what's on in Adelaide, I've noticed that there are plenty of free things to do in December, but far fewer paid events. This month there's more markets in Adelaide than you could possibly fit in, so let's take a look at some other things to see and do first.
Wunderkammer: Z is for Zebra (Image: Rod McRae 2010)
The amazing new Story Wall at the State Library of SA is perfectly timed for the summer months. It's a free event which is great fun for kids as it's exactly like going to an outdoor cinema. Every night the Story Wall tells amazing colourful tales drawn from the history of SA - highly recommended to visit.
Finders University open their new free exhibition Wunderkammer: The Cabinet of Wonders at their City Gallery in December. It's a unique exhibition that may be startling for some, but is a fascinating look at our relationship with animals.
Over at Z Ward the National Trust is busily serving up a program of events to keep this amazing place open to the public. It will be a marvellous atmosphere for the new Light Painting Workshops, while you can now double up with 2 for 1 ghost tours of Z Ward and the old Adelaide Gaol. History lovers can once again take Z Ward day tours too, so all tastes are catered for.

Of course to complete your quota of Christmas spirit you will need to know where are the best decorated Christmas trees in Adelaide. These days you needn't look far to find some really spectacular light displays too, one of the beauties of Christmas.
Not Free, but Fun Things to Do
Follow the Footsteps of the Royals to the South Australian Museum
Now that Cheltenham and Victoria Park racecourses are no longer in use, why not go to one of the country races in South Australia? We've got the full program set out for you. Otherwise stay home to enjoy the last of the Chick Flicks for the year.
Other Things to See and Do in Adelaide
Awesome Food from Low & Slow American BBQ New Restaurant
There are plenty of fun things to do for foodies this month, with Low & Slow American BBQ opening their new restaurant in the heart of Port Adelaide. In Adelaide city there is a new truly unique place for desserts that one of our writers has uncovered: Fancy Ices is set to keep you cool this summer!.
An article that caught my eye this month was a fascinating look at the lizards of Waterfall Gully - a great guide what to look for.
Further afield Steve takes a look at the history of resilient town of Normanville, with suggestions of free things to do when you visit. But if you're a keen traveller then give some thought to visiting Almerta Station, an amazing place for four wheel driving, bountain biking and hiking.
