December is a huge month for fabulous free festivals and events with both Christmas and New Year's Eve celebrations. Here are ten of the best events this month (with a few extras thrown in because December is the month of generosity).
**1. Friday Night Twilight Fetes
Friday 1st December **
a) Pearsall Primary Twilight Fete
Where: Pearsall Primary School, Ashbrook Ave, Pearsall

Head to the inaugural Pearsall Primary Twilight Fete in the northern suburbs, with games and rides, food and stalls, amusements and entertainment and much more.
b) Deanmore Art Market
Where: Deanmore Primary School, Deanmore

Held every two years, the Deanmore Art Market is a popular event that showcases local artists, with market and art stalls, music and entertainment, plenty of food and games and more.
**2. RAC Christmas Pageant
Saturday 2nd December**
Where: St Georges Tce Perth Western Australia

Gird your shoulders, as soon you will be holding toddlers aloft for the biggest free event for kids during the festive season. Now in its 46th year, the RAC/Channel 7 Christmas Pageant is a night of 'Perthonalities', music, marching girls and floats beyond your (seven year old) wildest dreams. The parade starts at 7.30pm but get there earlier for a good viewing spot.
**3. Sorrento Launch of Summer Fireworks
Saturday 2nd December**
Where: Sorrento Quay Boardwalk, 58 Southside Dr, Hillarys

Celebrate the start of summer with the traditional Sorrento fireworks. With live entertainment from 6pm, the fireworks will starts at 8pm at this free family friendly event.
**4. Christmas on the Green
Saturday 9th December**
Where: MacFaull Park - Pomfret Road, Spearwood

One of the big free Christmas events, this family-friendly evening has everything from carollers and live bands to camel rides and water slides. Fairy Queen Caroline will be there, along with face painting, Sandcards and even a bubble disco dome. When the sun sets, see the lights and visit with Santa.
**5. Perth Christmas Carnival
Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th December**
Where: Forrest Place, Perth

For two big days, let the kids enjoy a fabulous free Festival in the heart of the city. There will be plenty of free rides and activities and plenty for adults to do as well.
**6. City of Swan Twilight Family Festival
Sunday 10th December**
Where: Baskerville Oval, Memorial Ave, Baskerville

This family friendly event will have market stalls, food and coffee vans, community stalls, free craft, fun and games for the kids, a visit from Santa plus Carols by Candlelight by summer twilight.
**7. WASO Symphony in the City
Saturday 16th December**

Pack a picnic and bring a rug to one of Perth's favourite free events, the wonderful West Australian Symphony Orchestra playing beautiful, fun and exciting classical music from all your favourite composers and movies.
**8. Carols By Candlelight
Sunday 17th December**
a) IGA Carols by Candlelight
Where: Langley Park, Perth
When: entertainment from 1pm, kids show from 3pm, carols from 7pm
The biggest and most iconic carols of the year is the IGA Carols By Candlelight with hours of entertainment taking place before the big show itself. During the afternoon there will be children's rides and entertainment, face painting, food stalls and a Kids Show.
b) South Beach Carols
Where: South Beach, South Fremantle
When: from 5p-9pm
Come for a swim then stay for the carols at this popular event. Bring a picnic or enjoy dinner from the food trucks, then listen to Libby Hammer and the Arcadian lead you in all the classic carols.
c) Carols at Sunset
Where: Neil McDougall Park, Como
When: from 6.30pm-9pm
This traditional event with all your favourite carols is supported by South Perth Lions Club and is in a beautiful park setting, so it is perfect to bring a picnic and enjoy the evening with your family. Gold Coin donation.
d) Carols by Candlelight Cottesloe
Where: Cottesloe Civic Centre Main Lawn
When: from 6pm
Bring a picnic and enjoy traditional carols in the beautiful grounds of the Cottesloe Civic Centre.
e) Port Bouvard Carols
Where: Batavia Ave, Wannanup
When: from 5pm, carols start at 7pm
The annual Port Bouvard Carols by Candlelight includes entertainment and activities for the whole family such as toddler jam singing and dancing, bouncy castle, youth chill tent, plus food trucks and more. Bring a picnic rug or lawn chair
**9. The City at New Year's Eve
Sunday 31st December**
Where: Northbridge Plaza and Cultural Centre
When: from 4.30pm-midnight

There will be plenty to do and see in Northbridge on New Year's Eve, both for families and those who want to stay up later. There will be multiple free movies being screened (Moana, Zootopia), plus plenty of free music, interactive shows and entertainment and two countdowns - one at 9pm for families and another at midnight.
**10. NYE Fireworks
Sunday 31st December**
Mandurah – two fireworks displays, 9pm and midnight plus live music and DJs, plenty of rides and entertainment all night.
