Fun & free festivities
Brisbane Festival is set to explode onto the scene this September (from Saturday 7 to Saturday 28 September), with a sensational array of events such as music, theatre, dance, comedy, opera and so much more. It is the perfect opportunity to go out and about to your favourite places enjoying various activities that Brisbane Festival has to offer.

Fortunately there are heaps of freebies on offer for those on a budget, so no matter your interests, there's bound to be a freebie for you. Here's a list of my must-dos freebies:

1. Santos GLNG City of Lights

Be fascinated and spellbound by the spectacular light, laser and special effects show at South Bank's Cultural Forecourt. On nightly from Saturday 7 to Friday 27 September, this family friendly event will amaze you with sights of the city skyline and river.

2. Brisbane Airport Light Garden

Bring your cameras and shoot the night away. Witness the hottest LED technology in a display that will have you stunned. Shining nightly from Saturday 7 to Friday 27 September at the South Bank Cultural Forecourt, bring your family and friends to this impressive display.

3. Sunsuper Riverfire

I look forward to this every year. It is a great excuse for a social gathering with family and friends. With vantage points all along Brisbane River, sonic booms filling the sky, and explosions of beautiful colours right in front of your eyes, you definitely do not want to miss this show on Saturday 28 September starting at 7pm.

4. When Claude Met Roxy

All right, unlike the above, this is not a family event and certainly not suitable for children, but I thought I would include this naughty but nice little 10-minute show on this list anyway. I mean, it's not every day that you get to experience the world's only exotic finger puppet show right?

So if you're an adult and have a spare 10 minutes, come and experience this short, cheeky story about sexuality, eroticism, indulgence, coming out, vulnerability and love. Short and sweet and definitely not to be missed. Shown nightly from Tuesday 17 to Saturday 21 September at Parade Ground Tent, QUT Kelvin Grove.
