Christmas is a time of giving after all, and the best things in life come for free. The festive season is one to spread the Christmas cheer. There are a variety of free Christmas community events on in Sydney this December. These events have been put on to help people get into the festive spirit and are being family friendly. 1. Coogee Family Fun Day
This annual event is on yet again to kick off the first month of December. There are some non-Christmas activities that the whole family will also enjoy, including yoga classes and a petting zoo to name a few. However, an appearance from Santa will come as part of the festive celebrations.
2. Campbelltown Christmas Carols
Way out west a fantastic Christmas tree, known as the Campbelltown Christmas Tree comes to delight all families nearby. Choirs and bands will be performing. A fantastic evening of song and dance and Christmas carols awaits. A visit from Santa is also enjoyed. Held at the amphitheatre at the Campbelltown Arts Centre on the 1st of December.
Held at Paul Keating Park on the 1st of December, this annual community event will include kids concerts and Christmas carols, together with a visit from Santa. The festivities will end with fireworks. Musical performances will come from Jay Laga'aia and the Australian Navy band.
4. Carols By The Sea
The entertainment line up for the kids begins at 6pm on Wednesday the 5th of December 2012. After the kids performances, the Waverley Bondi Beach Band will take to the stage. From 7:30pm onwards, singing Christmas carols will be led by the Bondi Community Choir. Even though this event is free, donations are appreciated. Bring a rug or pillow, just something comfortable to sit on the ground. Event organisers are encouraging you to bring non-perishable food items. Held at Bondi Beach. Alternate venues nearby such as the Pavilion Theatre will hold this event should rain occur on the day.
5. Coogee Carols
All different Christmas Carols are sung here by local bands. A twelve piece band will be performing and Santa will be paying another visit to the area once more. Previous presenters and performers have included Amanda Keller and local TV vet, Dr Chris Brown. Held at the same location where the family fun day is held on the 1st of December.
6. Carols in the Domain
This annual event will be on again. The Wiggles is the main event for the kids. Otherwise a variety of different carols performances will be enjoyed. If you purchase a showbag, candles are included to light up and enjoy the night celebrations. Santa also makes an appearance, and there will be fireworks. Pre-show entertainment and ample catering options are also enjoyed. Remember to arrive as early as possible, and bring something comfortable to sit on the lawns.
