Forget the babysitter with these family friendly NYE events
For some, New Year's Eve is all about getting dolled up for the best party in Perth and finding someone to pash at midnight. For parents, it's all about getting out for a few hours with the kids, oohing and aahing at the fireworks and getting home to your pyjamas well before all that craziness begins after the clock strikes midnight. So, if you fall into the parental category, here are the top family-friendly New Year's Eve events in Perth for 2017.
Perth CBD and Western Suburbs
The City at New Year – Northbridge Piazza and Cultural Centre Northbridge Piazza, corner of James and Lake Streets and Cultural Centre, James Street, Perth Website: https://www.visitperthcity.com
The New Year festivities at Northbridge Piazza begin at 4:30pm with a free screening of Moana, before a heap of free family activities get underway at 6pm, including interactive shows and African drumming workshops.
Over at the Cultural Centre, a free screening of Zootopia will begin at 4:30pm, followed by free family activities at 6pm. Both venues will feature an early countdown at 9pm.
While there is no specific event organised at Kings Park, it is always popular with families on New Year's Eve. Pack a picnic to enjoy while admiring the views of the city. This event is smoke, alcohol and glass free.

There's free entry to Clancy's in Freo for NYE and family activities include Nature Play Solutions nature play in the park, roaming Circus WA entertainers, Farmer Damien's Moobile Farm, live music and DJ Jiminy Kickit's family-friendly disco, topped off by a 10pm countdown for families.
Come and meet your favourites from PAW Patrol, Trolls and Despicable Me. You can pay a visit to some of the animals who will be up late between 5pm and 6pm, including reptiles, the orang-utans and all the animals along Tiger and Bear Road. The family countdown will take place at 8pm.
Thomson Bay will host free family entertainment that includes including music, face painting, sand art and a photobooth, all followed by a family-friendly fireworks display at 9pm.
East and Perth Hills

Take a seat in the alfresco area and enjoy live music while the kids play in the enclosed playground. Other activities include face painting, lawn games and a bouncy castle. The family NYE countdown will begin at 7:30pm.

Enjoy a delicious buffet dinner from 6pm, followed by kids entertainment and DJ from 7pm. The family-friendly countdown and balloon drop will take place at 9pm. The cost is $55 per person for adults and $39 each for kids aged five to 12 years $39 each, with under fives free.
