I'm a Sunshine Coast journalist who jumped out of a lengthy mainstream media career 18 months ago to do some hearty work for the soul. A pescatarian sharing with you her secrets on our little piece of coast paradise.
Published September 10th 2014
One spectacular Spring line-up
TEQUILA on the town? Or a breaky OJ before a mountain climb? My monthly column 'Tequila Sunrise' is the combination of both, just like its namesake. And with the arrival of Spring this month, it's time to shake off that winter hibernation and what better way to do that then with my top picks for sunrise adventures right around the corner in September 2014 - whether you are heading home or just getting started..

what's on, Sunshine Coast, September, Spring, garden, tips, school holidays
My imperfect "Paradise!"
NIK'S PIK: SORRY! I know I'm late. Sorry, sorry, sorry. But check out this list of events!!! It's no wonder that it took me an extra 10 days to complete! I've chosen a theme for my pik in September that connects many of this month's events and is also particularly close to my heart this month for me in my little piece of Bli Bli paradise. And this month WKNDrs, I urge you to create a little piece of Paradise in your own backyard.
Paradise you say? Well, it's a work in progress. It's basic, unrefined and a slap dash of every veggie we love to eat and juice. But be kind: it's mine and I'm actually quite proud. FYI Ladies and gents: the sensation of the fresh soil between your toes was worth the Bunnings bill alone!!
Being Spring, it's the perfect time of year to plant those seedlings and get the whole family involved in nurturing your little patch. Like we have. Except our 3mth old puppy Apollo. He has proven the antithesis for "nurturing" .
There is plenty of advice for us amateur green thumbs out there this month with workshops at the Big Pineapple Growing Sustainable Garden or Kunara's Edible Garden. Then again, maybe sit back and watch how the experts do it while you enjoy their wares at events such as the Strawbfest, The Real Food Festival and the Orchid Spring Spectacular. Happy hunting!! (NB: I'll keep you posted on the progress of "Paradise!")
