I'm a Sunshine Coast journalist who jumped out of a lengthy mainstream media career 18 months ago to do some hearty work for the soul. A pescatarian sharing with you her secrets on our little piece of coast paradise.
Published June 1st 2014
Keep the winter woolies by the door
TEQUILA on the town? Or a breaky OJ before a mountain climb? My monthly column 'Tequila Sunrise' is the best of both worlds. As we officially welcome winter - all of us are desperate to make the most of these shorter days. So here are my top reasons to get out and witness a spectacular Sunshine Coast sunrise - whether you are heading home or just getting started....

Sunshine Coast, what's on, Nikkii Joyce, Tequila Sunrise, festivals, events, family
GET OUTSIDE IN GREEN JUNE!
NIK'S PIK: I'VE said it before, and I will say it again - the list of adventures and experiences available have me jumping out of my skin. Whatever your budget - whomever your companion. And despite it being winter, with most of us needing very little encouragement to hide ourselves under the covers, the events on this month's calendar are going to see you grabbing that beanie and gloves and heading for the hills. Literally..
Normally I can't go past the annual Nambour show for my pick for good ol fashion fun in June, even with huge events such as the Caloundra Foreshore and the Qld Surfing Series final. But this June the Coast is celebrating World Environment Day - ALL MONTH LONG! From the festival itself at USC, to film festivals to proactive education activities, work shops, fun runs and bike rides. While they may not all specifically come under the World Environment Day banner - they do celebrate the fantastic surrounds we are so lucky to call home. So grab the winter warms, and get out amongst our world this Green June!
