SLAMMERS OR SMOOTHIES - TAKE YOUR PICK!

WHETHER you're looking to to enjoy some of the infamous Mexican distilled spirit with a night on the town or you're knocking back the OJ in preparation for the action-packed day ahead, I share with you the best reasons to see the sun rise with the most special lady in your life on the Sunshine Coast with my what's on guide for the month where we pay tribute to our mothers, MAY.

NIK'S PIK - MY obsession with Dr Hook. My attraction to men in uniform. My fear of flying. My spontaneous leaps of joy at the scent of freshly cooked scones - (truly! I can be innocently walking past a tea house where I will - without warning - suddenly leap over a tall building if pumpkin is in the air!)

Yes, all of this can be laid solely and squarely at the feet of genetics - and my mother who still to this day can rock a pumpkin scone like no other.

And in our little paradise that is the Sunshine Coast, there are no shortage of options to take your mother this Mother's Day on May 12. Sadly, my mother lives interstate and I will miss spending this magical day with her. Thinking as a tribute to the lady who brings gentleness, humour and comfort to our madcap fam, I might brave an entrance into the room I spend least time in (what can I say - my husband is a genius, why would I?) and spend the morning elbow deep in plain flour and pumpkin!
