Keep the winter woolies by the door

TEQUILA on the town? Or a breaky OJ before a mountain climb? My monthly column 'Tequila Sunrise' is the best of both worlds. In the thick of this beautiful but brisk coast winter - all of us are desperate to make the most of these shorter days. So here are my top reasons to get out and witness a spectacular Sunshine Coast sunrise - whether you are heading home or just getting started...

NIK'S PIK: THERE is magic in the air. Look outside your window - aren't these winter days spectacular? But if there is one complaint that I hear most from keen Weekend Notes adventurists is that the days simply aren't long enough to pack in all the fun. Luckily this month, my top pick for July has spread the magic over 10 days just to make sure everyone gets a chance to snap up the fun. Yes, of course I am talking about the Noosa Long Weekend Festival. Almost two weeks of music, dance, theatre, literature, forums, food, supper clubs, comedy workshops and visual arts are ready to be snaffled up, starting from July 18 and continuing until July 27. The fabulously leggy and vivacious Rhonda Burchmore is a personal highlight on this year's star-studded lineup that includes cabaret performer and actress Ali McGregor, the Queensland Ballet and a preview of Bruce Beresford's new production 'Bonnie & Clyde'. Check it out....
