Spring into action in October with festivals, night markets, and Spring Racing Carnival.
1. Victorian Seniors Festival A festival of arts, sport, touring, learning and meeting new people. Enjoy free and low-cost events across Victoria from 6th-13th October; and for Victorian Seniors Card holders, free travel on metropolitan and regional public transport throughout the festival, and free economy V/Line travel on 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13 October. 2. Melbourne Festival
Enjoy a wide array of dance, theatre, music, visual arts, multimedia and outdoor events from renowned and upcoming Australian and International companies and artists at the Melbourne Festival. Free and ticketed events from 11th-27th October.
3. 2013 BMW Caulfield Cup Carnival Be swept away in the glamour of Spring Racing season at the BMW Caulfield Cup Carnival, from 12th-20th October. Mingle with stylish race goers, enter the Chadstone Fashion Stakes, punt on a winner, and enjoy live entertainment. Main events: Saturday 12th - BECK Caulfield Guineas; Wednesday 16th - Schweppes Thousand Guineas; Saturday 19th - BMW Caulfield Cup.
From October 21st- 26th, be dazzled by the Indian Diwali Festival of Lights. Enjoy traditional and modern dance performances, Bollywood movie screenings, music, bazaar, cuisine, and more, all for free, at Federation Square.
5. South Melbourne Night Market Every Thursday between October 31st-December 19th, from 5.30-9.30pm, enjoy live music, food, fashion and wine bars at the South Melbourne Night Market, Coventry and Cecil Streets, South Melbourne.
