The Melbourne Zoo is not just for children
The Melbourne Zoo often has some interesting events during the year. Around about Christmas and the New Year, they have events both for adults and children.
This is a list of some of these events.
These talks are on every day from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm and they are free. This is a unique opportunity to hear about the animals from the people who know them best – their actual keepers, who spend their days looking after them.
Each day you can hear all about their particular animals and the conservation work that is being done for various species.
You can check out particular animals at this link.
SHARED CHRISTMAS PARTY This will be held on 21st December from 6.30 pm to 11.30 pm and is the perfect function for small or larger groups. Everything will be included and this would be great for staff or social groups.
Guests will be taken to a secret location where they will have an evening in one of the Zoo's private spaces, with an outdoor terrace, unlimited cocktail type food and beverages and a special animal experience.
You will be able to dance all night and have heaps of fun celebrating Christmas and the end of 2018. You could also dress up in your wildest Christmas theme outfit and there will be prizes for the best dressed!
CHRISTMAS DAY LUNCH This year for something very different, why not have a magical experience with a special lunch amongst the many wonders of the Zoo on Christmas Day.
You could be feasting on a four-course Christmas lunch or a gourmet Christmas buffet lunch in one of the styled private function venues.
The four-course lunch will have a traditional Christmas lunch menu whilst the buffet is inspired by a classic Australian Christmas with plenty of seafood including oysters, prawns and Moreton Bay bugs as well as the traditional favourites.
The lunch will also include all your wine, beer, soft drinks, tea and coffee as well as your admission fee to the Zoo from one hour prior to the event. Santa will be there for the children and there will be a photo booth. After lunch, you can wander right through the Zoo.
Tickets cost $250 for the buffet and $110 for children, and $225 for the 4-course lunch, and $95 for children. Make your bookings here.
Zoo Twilights returns with a massive group of local and international artists, banding together for the same goal - one tiny marsupial's fight against extinction. All proceeds help Zoos Victoria save the Eastern Barred Bandicoot from extinction.
The Eastern Barred Bandicoot is a small, nocturnal marsupial. The subspecies of this animal, the Perameles Gunnii, is listed as extinct in the wild.
Many of these entertainers have already sold out for their shows however there are still seats for the following artists:
Sampa the Great/REMI - is one of the world's most soulful rappers. She is a poet and neo-soul performer and is able to sing lyrical mazes with her verses. She has won the prestigious Australian Music Prize for her debut record, Birds and the Bee9.
And on the Twilight's stage before Sampa The Great are REMI – the rapper Remi Kolawole and producer Sensible J. Remi always performs an amazing live show.
The show will be on Friday 1st February at 7.30 pm and you can get your tickets here.
