There are some great events to attend in this area
Werribee and Point Cook are an approximately 20-minute drive away from Melbourne and as such, is an easy drive to attend any of these functions.

This is a list of 10 top events in and around Werribee and includes Point Cook and Wyndham areas.

1. Outdoor Cinema: Pop Up Park
These movies will be on six different dates and they are all starting at 5 pm and run for 2 hours. Dates are:
19th and 26th January
2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd February

They will be on at Station Place, Werribee Station Place, Werribee, and are free events.

You can bring a bean bag and make yourself comfortable at what is definitely the coolest movie theatre in town!

The movies are all suitable for children and are as follows:

19th Jan - The Greatest Showman [PG]
26th Jan - Babe [G] part of Australia Day Concert
2nd Feb - Trolls [G]
9th Feb - Captain Underpants [G]
16th Feb - Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle [PG]
23rd Feb - Sherlock Gnomes [G]

You will be able to buy food here and you can also bring your own picnic if you prefer. You MAY need to bring a blanket and this event is alcohol-free.

2. Americana - Street Food Sundays
This will be on Sunday 20th January, from 12 noon till 5 pm at Station Place, Werribee.

They will have excellent street food and each Sunday it will be a different nationality cuisine. There will also be live music, traditional dancing and children's craft activities.

On this particular Sunday, the food will be from the deep south. There will be food such as loaded fries, burgers, mac cheese and chilli dogs at this all-American feast.

The Park will also have a free children's animal farm each Sunday from 11 am till 4 pm.

3. Mad Hatter's Tea Party - Midsumma Festival Event
This will be held on 23rd January, from 12 noon to 4 pm at The Substation, 1 Market St, Newport.

This event is celebrating sexual and gender diversity. If you are 12-25, living in Victoria and want to meet other gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer/questioning, asexual young people, then you must attend this tea party!

It is a free event and high tea will be provided as well as live music and giveaways including prizes for best dress up costume.

4. Coffee with a Cop: Pop Up Park
This will be on 24th January, from 2 pm to 4 pm at the pop-up park.

Here you will be able to enjoy a cup of free coffee in this special pop-up park edition of Coffee with a Cop! The coffee will be served compliments of Tjays Cafe, and while you are sipping on this, you can get to meet your local police. You may have some questions you have or you may like to point out your concerns.

No bookings are required for this - just turn up.

5. Hitched - Artist in Conversation
This is on 24th January from 6 pm to 8 pm at The Wyndham Art Gallery, 177 Watton Street, Werribee.

Wyndham Art Gallery will present Maddee Clarke and Neika Lehman to curate their Midsumma exhibition for 2019.

Both Maddee and Neika are Narrm based writers who bring a new perspective on the marriage equality debate through their selection of artists for this exhibition.

Hitched is about the politics of queer communities since the legalisation of same-sex marriage in 2017.

6. Australia Day 2019 in Wyndham
This event will start at 5 pm and go till 10 pm on 26th January at The Werribee City Centre, Watton Street,

This Australia Day Wyndham City will be hosting a free event for the whole community in the Werribee City Centre.

This Australia Day you can just laze around the pop-up park and bring your own picnic or you can buy your dinner from any of the great food trucks or local cafes and restaurants.

There will also be rides, children's activities and a new addition this year is the Makers Market. Here you will find a variety of handmade artisan products and then finish the evening by watching the fireworks.

7. Sam Perry: Pop Up Park
This will be held on 25th January at Station Place, Werribee. It will take place between 6 pm and 10 pm and is a free live music event under the stars.

This pop-up park will have concerts each Friday night from 18th January to 24th February, and this one features Sam Perry.

Sam is the winner of The Voice 2018, and is a one-man performer who can sing haunting harmonies and so much more!

You need not cook dinner on this night as there are many nearby restaurants and cafes, however, you are able to bring your own food if you prefer.

8. India: Street Food Sundays
This will be on 3rd February, from 12 noon till 5 pm at the Pop Up Park, Station Place, Werribee.

This is another culinary event in the series and here you will be able to eat curries, golden samosas, naanwiches and mango lassi. The best in Indian street food!

9. Point Cook Lunar New Year Festival 2019
The Lunar new year is a big and popular event with many councils having celebrations to mark the Chinese New Year.

This one will be held on Saturday 16th February, from 12 noon to 9.30 pm and will be a real phenomenal event this year. Being held at Stockland Point Cook, Corner of Main Street & Murnong Street, Point Cook, this festival will celebrate the beginning of the Year of the Pig.

Run by the Point Cook Cultural Community, the festival will showcase the multicultural diversity in and around this community. On offer for this day will be music, performances, food, music and activities.

This will be the third year this event has been staged and is already set to be the best yet with a stage and production three times the size, two lion dances, and the first ever dragon dance and a spectacular fireworks finale!

10. Fireworks at Port Cook Lunar New Year
Fireworks are always an amazing way to end a wonderful night of entertainment and these ones will be no exception. They will be on for about ¾ hour from 9.15 pm to 10.00 pm after the above event.
