These events will all be held at the Hawthorn Community House, 32 Henry St, Hawthorn unless otherwise stated.

[b] 1. ARGENTINIAN TANGO CLASSES[/b]
Tango is a partner dance that gives you a workout as it is an active and vibrant dance that requires quite a close connection and passion between dancers.

New classes will start each Wednesday and you can learn what tango is all about - no partner required.

The cost of the 10 weeks course is $145 and you will need to phone 9819 2629 to register. Classes start at 7 pm and finish at 8.30 pm.



[b]2. BOTANICAL ILLUSTRATION[/b]
At this class, you can illustrate details of flowers, plants and fruits in a tutor-led class where you will use watercolours to paint. All material will be provided.

Thursdays, from 2 pm to 4 pm, starting on 7th February 2019.

[b]3. SILK PAINTING[/b]
Silk painting would be a fascinating hobby to learn. You will be able to express yourself as you are shown this amazing art form. You will focus on your creative skills and learn to understand the art of textile painting. All materials will be provided.

Silk painting will be held on Wednesdays, from 4.30 pm to 6 pm, from 6th February. Cost is $308 and you can contact the teacher here.



[b]4. FERMENTING & GUT HEALTH[/b]
This is such a topical subject at the moment with many television shows and newspapers telling about the importance of gut health. Now you can attend a short course on Fermenting & Gut Health.

This will be a five-week course and teach you how to have great gut health. The benefits of both probiotic and prebiotic foods will be discussed as well as the basics of fermentation, how to make kombucha, sauerkraut, yoghurt and kefir.

Gut Health will be on Tuesdays for 5 weeks, from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm. The cost will be $210 and you can contact the teacher here.



[b]5. INTERMEDIATE GUITAR[/b]
This is a community intermediate guitar group for people who have played three years or more. You will be taught techniques and further your playing. Course notes will be provided and you bring your own guitar.

This will be on Thursdays, from 7 pm to 8 pm starting 7th February. The cost will be $120 and you can contact the organiser here.



[b]6. MEDITATION IMMERSION FOR BEGINNERS[/b]
This will be an eight-week immersion course which will focus on guided meditations. Here you will learn several different techniques with the simple practice of relaxation, self-awareness and being in the present.

[b]7. HOT OPTIONS BY LINDA JUDGE[/b]
Hot Options is a collection of paintings by Linda Judge. Linda documented the contents of her wardrobe from 1989 to now. Quite an unusual exhibition and each painting depicts an item of clothing and records the label, the date of purchase and a place where the artist had worn it.

Over time, this body of work has become a record of changing fashions and styles, as well as a diary of the artist's life. This is a unique exhibition which will show weddings, pregnancies, funerals and all the important events in between. This exhibition shows the relationship between clothes and memory.

This is a FREE event and it will be on at the Town Hall Gallery, 360 Burwood Road, Hawthorn, from 10 am to 4 pm. It will start on 12th February and be on daily until 10th March.



[b]8. INVENTI SUNDAY CLASSICS: SUMMER[/b]
For their first concert of the year, Inventi will present their five-instrument arrangement of Prokofiev's Classical Symphony. You can hear this iconic work performed by the excellent musicians of the Inventi Ensemble. This will be accompanied by some beautiful flute and oboe quartets.

Their debut season was in 2018 and this was extremely popular and now they will continue their Sunday Classics throughout 2019. There will be chamber music concerts in the Chandelier Room, where you will be able to hear a range of music.

It will start on the 24th February, from 2 pm to 3 pm. The cost will be $18 and you can book here.



[b]9. INTRODUCTION TO WATERCOLOURS[/b]
Ever wanted to attempt some painting? Now is your chance - explore the medium of watercolour in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. You will learn the essentials for making beautiful effects using different types of papers, brushes and colour mixing. All materials will be provided and the course is suitable for ages 16 years and upwards.

It will be on Tuesday 26th February, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Hawthorn Arts Centre, 360 Burwood Road, Hawthorn. The cost will be $40/ $35 concession and you can book here.



[b]10. STORYTIME YOGA[/b]
Storytime Yoga is for 3 to 5-year-olds and will be a 45-minute class which will have the fun of reading with the benefits of yoga. This class will promote health and reading in one. This event will be run by Kaela Snibson from Yoga Spark

The course is every Thursdays for 6 weeks, starting 7th February, from 1.30 pm to 2.15 pm. The cost will be $100 and you can contact Kaela here.
