For those of you who are not familiar with places just outside of Perth, Bindoon is a town near Chittering. It is about 84 kilometres from the centre of Perth city. Chittering, on the other hand, is a similar distance and both take about an hour from the city centre.
Chittering is on the Brockman River and is actually between Toodyay and Gingin. Chittering has undulating hills offering sensational views over lush valleys filled with vineyards and orchards, paddocks and pastures. They also often have a great array of roadside stalls selling fresh fruit.
Both of these places are easily "do-able" in a single day, making them popular spots for weekend outings. It is a gorgeous area and has plenty to see and do in the vicinity. This is a list of a few of the things that will be on during June, and early July, 2018.
1. Painting on GlassThere will be a Painting on Glass workshop on 10th June, from 9.30 am until 3 pm.
This will be held at The Brockman Centre, and all enquires can be emailed to enquiry@chitteringartsociety.com or phone Robyn on 9576 2117.
2. Bindoon Open MicThis event will be on 16th June, from 7 pm to 10 pm. It will be held at the Bindoon Hall, Great Northern Hwy, and is a free event, however they ask for a donation of around $5.
This is a place for performers to gain experience in a country town. All PA and mic will be provided, so you just have to plug in your instrument.
Audiences are also welcome. You can find out more at this
site.
3. Toodyay Farmers Market
Toodyay is very close to Chittering and Bindoon, so why not go to their Farmers Markets before driving on to the other surrounding areas! This will be on Sunday 17th June, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. It will be held at Stirling Park, 140 Stirling Terrace, Toodyay, and entry is free.
These markets are supporting the sale of regionally grown produce, plus art, lifestyle and fun!

CWA is a great way to meet new people, be creative and have a lots of fun! For more information, contact: Cathy Brown - 0428 952 640.
5. Bindoon Farmers Market
A country farmers market is mostly far better than the city ones as it is local growers attending and selling their fresh fruit and vegetables.
This market will be held on 24th June, from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm, at Clune Park, Gray Road and Great Northern Highway, Bindoon.
There will be about 36 stalls here and would be a fun day out!
6. Bird Walk
The Bird Walk will be on 7th July from 8 am to 10 am.
The meeting point will be Julimar West Stephens Road, Chittering.
Here you will learn about bird monitoring with the Chittering Bird Group - learn how to identify birds and their calls. See if you can spot any, or rather, how many you can spot!

This whole Avon Valley area is a delightful place to spend a day - take a picnic, or eat at one of the many cafes and eating establishments in any of these areas. Take the family, and enjoy!
