Three coffee blends you can rely on
Top 3 Coffees in Byron Bay

As a former barista, I served coffee to a few thousand happy customers for over six years. However, as good as I was at my job, I had no interest in drinking coffee and never indulged in its taste. It wasn't until I was 30, and stuck in a living situation in which coffee was not easily accessible, that I suddenly became more interested. The opportunity to have a coffee did not come my way for a good four months but then when it was put in front of me, it was exciting and highly tempting. It was only the instant stuff, but the urge was there.

I thought I would hate it too, as I could never stand the taste of coffee in any form; turning down sweets such as tiramusu and chocolate-covered coffee beans. However, my prediction could not have been more wrong...the first sip gave me instant satisfaction. My new found addiction had me drinking another four cups over the next couple of hours as I frantically began making labels for the kitchen.

Now, my first proper espresso experience did not occur for a few weeks later. I ordered my first cafe latte and I was happy to put the usual order of hot chocolate or chai to the side. I was lucky enough to stumble across Utopia Cafe in Bangalow...well it was hard not to notice it when it was bright yellow! It was there that I purchased the best looking latte I had ever seen. Since then, I have consumed several more lattes but it still remains one of my favourites.

Recently moving to down town Byron, I have been keen to discover the best places to buy coffee in town. After some experimentation and some guidance from my mother (a well experienced coffee drinker) and the feedback from my most loved and dearest coffee addict friends, I have found my top 3 places to buy coffee. Although, no matter how good the coffee is...success lies in hand of the barista.

Coming in at number 3...

3. Mary Ryan's Bookshop (Merlo)
Merlo has a good reputation and will sure to satisfy. If you're in unfamiliar territory just look out for the Merlo sign outside coffee shops and they will most likely serve up a good coffee.

Go in and grab a coffee from 7am everyday, except Sundays from 8am.
- PLUS...after 9 coffees, get the 10th one free with their Club Card.

Second place

2. Byron Fresh Cafe (Campos)
Although Campos coffee can be found in 20 cafes around NSW, the only place it can be found in Byron is right here.

Open 7 days a week 7am - 11pm

Taking the number one place

At the top...

1. Aquarius Cafe & Dining (Byron Bay Coffee Company)
This cafe is one of many places in and around Byron which source their coffee from the Byron Bay Coffee Company. The company has been roasting for over 25 years and uses the best quality Arabica coffee beans from around the world.
