10 Top Classbento Workshops for January to March

Classbento put on many workshops and interesting classes on all manner of subjects. Over the last 20 years or so, I have attended many workshops to learn different crafts and have enjoyed most of them.

This list will give you an idea of what will be on for this January and February. Many of these sell out quite fast, so if you are interested in any, make sure you book as soon as possible.

[b]Metalsmithing For Beginners[/b]
At this workshop, you will learn how to make a ring, earring or pendant in the 3-hour lesson. It will be on Wednesday 16th and 23rd January, and you can make your bookings and find out more here. The cost is $150, it will be held in Redfern and you will be given the exact address after making your booking.

Using various materials such as copper, silver and the like, you will be taught how to design and make textured jewellery. You will be using several hammers, letter stamps, number stamps and other tools. After this, you can make up your own design.



[b]Cocktail Making with Australian Native Plants[/b]
What an unusual class this will be! One I have not seen around before and one that I am sure will be very interesting,

It is a hands-on cocktail class, but with a special twist! You will talk about local plants indigenous to the area as well as discussing edible flora. You will learn how to incorporate these into refreshing cocktails and how to mix three twists on classic cocktails using locally-found ingredients. Some of the ingredients that will be used include:

  • Myrtle
  • Illawarra plums
  • Lilly pillies
  • And several other Australian natives.

  • This will be held on 12th, 17th, 19th, 24th, 26th and 31st January, and the cost is $65. Bookings can be made here and the duration of the class is two hours. It will be held in Newtown and address will be given after booking.



    [b]Smartphone Photography Class[/b]
    Are you getting the most out of your phone camera? Can you use your smartphone camera correctly? For this and much more, there will be an event to teach you all about the potential of using smartphone cameras.

    You will go on a walking tour and have a hands-on learning experience in the lovely area of The Rocks and the surrounding areas. This will include the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

    These classes will be held on 2nd February and 2nd March, from 3 pm to 6 pm and will cost $99. You can book at this site.

    [b]Macaron Making[/b]
    Love macarons? Want to learn to make them yourself? There is an art to them, and once you learn this, you will be able to impress anyone with your delicious macarons. You will be taught by Sydney's master macaron chef Carlos of MakMak Macarons. This will be a fun, hands-on class and you will get to take home a complimentary gift bag containing recipes and equipment to make your own batch at home.

    These classes will be on right through January and February on multiple dates, and you can see the dates and book here. Cost is $100, and it will be held at 272 Cleveland St, Surry Hills.



    [b]Beginners Pottery Day[/b]
    Pottery is one I have never tried but would love to - I would love to create pieces that are both useful and different, and at these classes, you will be able to learn just that. In this series of 3 classes, you'll learn wheel throwing, trimming, and glazing basic cylinders.

    You will be able to make such things as cylindrical ceramics, which could be any of the following:

  • Bowls and plates
  • Mugs and cups
  • Stationary/cutlery holders
  • Planters or vases
  • Food bowl for your pet
  • Candleholder

  • This will have multiple dates throughout January and February and will cost $165. They will be held at 202/15 Falcon St, Crows Nest and you can find out more and book at this link.



    [b]Flower Arranging with Australian Wildflowers[/b]
    You will learn to make a beautiful bouquet from fresh Australian indigenous flowers and foliage. You will be taught how to best pick and combine foliage so that you can produce a bouquet that is harmonious and pretty while being able to be creative.

    When you are finished, you will go home with your charming arrangement to impress your family.

    It will be on 11th and 16th January - all other dates are already sold out, so make sure you book now at this link. Cost will be $110, and it will be held at 674 Bourke Street, Redfern.



    [b]Luxe Makeup Class[/b]
    The Luxe Makeup Masterclass will teach you the techniques to apply beauty makeup. It will be a 3 hours class where students will learn how to prep skin and apply a perfect base, shape eyebrows to suit face shape, highlight, correct eye shapes, correct lip shapes and apply blush.

    You will receive a complimentary eyebrow kit and discounts to luxury cosmetic retailers. There will also be some luxury products which will be available to test.

    This will be on Friday 18th and Wednesday 23rd January, from 1 pm to 4 pm. It will be held at 39 Collins Street, Alexandria and you can learn more and book here.



    [b]Chocolate Making Workshops[/b]
    Who doesn't love to make their own chocolate? It seems to taste even better when you have made it from scratch!

    This class has been featured on the [i]Today Show[/i] on 30th November 2018. You will make yummy chocolates with a master chocolatier, in a chocolate factory. You will learn how to make filled chocolates and much more. There will be plenty of sampling and taking home also!

    [b]Make Your Own Frangrance[/b]
    If you make your own perfumes and the like, you know exactly what goes into them - no nasty chemicals! You will learn to blend odourants, such as musk, neroli, and jasmine. You will also use different combinations and end up with a perfume of your choice.

    You will get to take home two 30ml bottles of perfume (valued at $120 each).

    [b]Soap Making Workshop[/b]
    Once you have learnt to make your own soap, you will not go back to buying it commercially. It will be all natural with no preservatives and will be silky and moisturising with no harsh chemical in it.

    During this workshop, you will be taught the essentials of cold process soapmaking and you will use ingredients such as organic coconut oil, olive oil, castor oil, sunflower oil, essential oils, botanicals, and more.
